Mix and Match Tire Brands

Post by mrags89 »

Hello everyone, My first rear tire on my PCX 150 is in need of changing and I already ordered a Michelin City Grip to replace it and it arrived today, ready to go on in a couple days. My front tire is still the stock IRC with plenty of riding miles left. I really didn't think about this until after I ordered the tire, but from you guy's experience and from do you think running a City Grip rear with a stock IRC front would be safe? or should I return it for another IRC rear? I know when it comes to discussing two different brands on motorcycles, its kind of a 50/50 on the subject.

Thanks so much

Yes it will be fine if you use the correct size.
My IRC front lasted till I sold the bike at 18000 miles and the last 7000 of that was with the correct size City Grip on the rear.
Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong
