Trying to decide where i should take my bike for its last (possibly) trip? North around Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania Poland, Germany etc or....
South
Santander, France, Italy, Albaina, Montenegro, Bosnia, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Germany etc ...
Or finally a tour our the UK coast...would be so much more laid back but less interesting...
Any other suggestions?
Next road tip????

Mongolia would be a challenge.
Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong
Re: Next road tip????
I have been carefully looking for something slightly bigger for a while now, probably an S-wing, but seeing as i still cant let go of my beloved PCX just yet i think there's one last trip left in her for me! Amazing how 18000 miles and 3 years passes by so quick!

I go to Latvia at least once a year, to Germany once a month and have been to most of the other countries you mention. My advice would be that you take a proper bike to East Europe, as you will need that extra power to get out of harms way.ben wrote:

They aren't used to small little scooters in Latvia and don't expect you to be in the way. They even expect you to get out of the way if you are in a smaller car then theirs...meaning little Fiat is beaten by mid size VW that is beaten by large beemer that is beaten by Jeep Cherokee that is beaten by 40 ton truck....and that is with oncoming traffic as much as overtaking.
Its not exactly like the Ice Road Trucker's tour of India, in the sense that Latvian Police does actually enforce laws and is really tough on speeding but as soon as a Latvian got more than 100 horses under the bonnet, it messes with their brain and they become rude and aggressive. Trust me, I know...
Poland is similar if you try to be with a little scooter on a country road.
All the Nordics are very nice to tour, with breathtaking scenery and people who are very civilised with each other. Actually, Norway has a strictly enforced national speed limit of 80Km/h so even with a PCX you could get into big trouble :-D
All the southern European places are more then used to Scooters, although not really as tough on traffic rules as Germans. You will be safe on a German unrestricted Autobahn, as long as you stick to the "slow" lane. Scenery can be very nice, too (and I enjoy the food).
Personally, I would either tour the Nordics in the summer or go all the way to southern Spain and Gibraltar, taking the ferry to Santander and the mountain passes past Andorra.

Here's some very helpful info on setting up for your road trip. I grabbed it from Rides and Events:
