Carver Surf Racks installed =)

Post by ScooterMan »

Got these from Surfboards.com. $111 shipped, no tax. Had to do their 10% price match guarantee with the ones I found on Amazon and he beat it by 10%. =)

Anyway, when I first got them, I was worried they weren't going to work. I knew I wanted to use the mounts from the luggage box.
After some thought, drilling some holes and making some spacers, it all worked out just fine. If anyone in the future sees this post and needs more pics or advice, PM me and I'd be happy to share more details. I did cut the stock grab rail plastic cover btw.

Quite secure. The longboard skateboard is 9.5lbs, and the shortboard about 6lbs. I zip tie the longboard to the racks with a "releasable" cable tie. I can go full throttle on the freeway with it hitting 70+mph, so it's secure. Now, a surfboard (which it is intended for) may be a different story, but would still feel comfortable going full speed with it if needed. It;s just that I live near the beach, so no need to go to fast with my surfboard on there.

That's pretty cool. I'm still trying to think of a good way to secure a beach umbrella and two camping chairs for those 2 up beach trips with the missus

Huh, this could actually work for that. I'll try it out with my two sand chairs and umbrella and take some pics if I can make it work!

I'll also post a few more pics of how it's mounted.

So, I go t two chairs in one pic, and one chair and the umbrella in the other. I suppose with a little more effort, and swiveling the racks to the best position, you could fit the chairs and the umbrella. I purchased some releasable cable ties so I can secure them and just release them when I get to the beach or wherever. If I was to take 2 chairs and an umbrella, I'd just zip tie the umbrella to the chairs. =)

Wow, that's a lot of cargo capacity! Great for a beach bike. Do they drag if you take a hard left turn?
