Hello all,
So today is returned from work and it was heavily raining. I usually store the bike under a decent cover but I don't see the point once the bike is already soaked so it's under a bit of shelter outside the house now but still rain is hitting it.
Rain is due in for the next 8 hours so it's pretty much exposed to the elements until it drys sufficiently to put a cover on.
Has anyone kept the bike exposed to the elements or does anyone know how the bike will manage being regularly exposed to rain?
Thanks guys
How is the bike during the rain?(storage terms)

It'll be fine. Keep the shutter closed for the ignition switch though. Living in Scotland my ones been sat in driving rain and snow with no problems.

Oh that's great similar weather to wales up there probably a little worse.
Have you noticed any excessive or premature corrosion due to it being outside?

My PCX sat otside in all weathers uncovered for three years.
Made no difference whatsoever.

Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong

Not really. It stays inside at night but sits all day outside at work in all weathers. I use ACF50 on it so it's stayed pretty corrosion free.Hondax2 wrote:Oh that's great similar weather to wales up there probably a little worse.

It gets cleaned on a regular basis as well so it keeps the grot down.

I use it on the alloy parts as it stops them going that powdery corrosion way. It seems to last ages so three or four times a year but mostly when the weather gets bad. It keeps the salt down. You can put it pretty much all over, but obviously not the brakes, wheels, tyres etc. I put the bike away for the worse of the winter so it gets a good coating then.
Keeping it clean makes a big difference. It also give you a chance to spot anything that might give you problems sooner rather that later also.
I know some people use them as a working tool looking a the state of some bikes on the road but I think if looked after properly it's less likely to let you down.
