Brand new 2015 or used 2013?
So its finally summer in Maryland and it just hit me. I WANT A BIKE! I obviously grew up wanting a crotch rocket but now im 26 and being more realistic but yet want to fulfill my dream of riding. So after weeks of researching, I am set on the PCX 150. I mainly just go to school (2 miles one way) and work ( 15 miles one way on highway 55mph limit ). Been looking for one on craiglist, a used 2013 seems to go for about $2500-$3200 so i thought to myself, " why not just buy a brand new one?" so just when i was looking them up, I realized the 2015 model is out. So now I'm back to square one, used 2013 or new 2015?
Also, whats the top speed i can get if I had a passenger? I'm 5'6, 180lbs. My girlfriend is 5'1, 110lbs.
Oh, is everything still the same between the 2013 and 2015. MPG? Power? weight? etc
Thank you

New one not worth the extra cash imo.
Performance and economy are the same.
New one has bigger tank, humpless seat and a clock.

Re: Brand new 2015 or used 2013?
That becomes a question based on your wants. If you want a scooter with a larger gas tank, get the new one. If you don't want to pay full price, get a used one, and in fact you can still get a 2013 that is brand new for around $2699 in some places. If you don't like the seat hump (who does??!!) get a new 2015 version. I think the 2015 model also has LED lights and a clock, so all in all it has what everyone with a 2013 model has been complaining that they don't have. However, if you really don't care about anything except finding a ride, you may find that the 2015 has not arrived in all the showrooms yet, so buy what you can find. So, to sum it up, it all depends on what you want.

Re: Brand new 2015 or used 2013?
I have bought a brand new 2013 standing next to a brand new 2015 ... because the white 2015 wasn't to be delivered untill september (in Belgium) I bought the 2013 ... now I pretty much wished I would have bought the 2015 ... already bought a clock and do have some trouble with the hump ...gn2 wrote:New one not worth the extra cash imo.

In my case fixing both would cost me the almost the same as the extra cost to the 2015 ... and the 2 extra liters of fuel would save me a few trips to the pump.
Ben.
A Belgian beer please, I don't like water, that's the shit that rusts my PCX!

Re: Brand new 2015 or used 2013?
A used 2013 will be significantly cheaper in most markets.
Here in the UK a 2013 PCX can be had for under £2000 and a 2010 for under £1000
A new one is £2600

Re: Brand new 2015 or used 2013?
Though I don't have a PCX yet...
from what I've read, the 2015 Honda PCX 150 has over the 2013:
Honda has claimed no change in MSRP but....well, I'd be surprised if that were true
Cheers!

from what I've read, the 2015 Honda PCX 150 has over the 2013:
- Illuminated ignition insert ring
A 12 volt power outlet in the glove box
Lower friction engine (Honda claims 103.5 MPG over the 2013 102 MPG)
Lower rolling resistance tires
LED lighting (headlight goes from 55 watt to 5.4 on Low, and 9.6 on High)
Much improved seat with springloaded opening (costing a few cu./in/ of storage)
Restyled bodywork with integrated turn signals.
Honda has claimed no change in MSRP but....well, I'd be surprised if that were true

Cheers!

Here the age doesn't really matter ... looks and milage does ... a good one does cost minimum 2000 pounds (converted from euro) a new one 2350 pounds ... in my opinion ... I wanted a new one with 2y waranty ...gn2 wrote:A used 2013 will be significantly cheaper in most markets.

That makes sense for you then, but for the OP if a used one can be had at a significantly lower price than a new one, then imo there's not enough of a difference to make it worth spending the extra cash.

Re: Brand new 2015 or used 2013?
I am in the exact same boat. Cheapest I can get a new one was 2900. I can get a 2015 otd as well for 3450. The $550 difference is worth it to me. From what I've heard just changing the few things that the 2015 doesnt need would more than make up that cost. Mine should be in on friday!!

@ Trib, I think we can add to your list a (bit) Taller windscreen. I read that (somewhere)?
I'm kind of hoping we get the integrated turn signals. Though I haven't read that anywhere. Our present 2011, 2013 signals protrude, but I believe they are Seen better = Safer riding. The inline signals are flush and sleek, but are they as helpful in being Seen? Just my thought shared. We'll get, what we get....when we get it....If we ever get it! The 2015's
I will start hounding my dealer come mid July, asking the same question...."anything yet on the 2015 PCX?" In turn he will most probably say, "nothing yet, but we have a 2013 that we can give you for a really good price!"
@ alkiax, where do you or your dealer reside? >LOCATION< helps! You wrote that you can get a 2015 PCX out the door for $3,450? Really? OTD? Good for You if true!! I definitely Need to know where your dealer lives!
Anybody else?......GROUP BUY?!

Re: Brand new 2015 or used 2013?
I am also looking a purchasing a 2015 PCX 150. My friend sold me his Honda Today 50cc for $200 USD and I was hooked on scooters. I'm looking at Matte Grey since it's not available in the US and will be unique when I come back there. I have 3 questions (since in Japan they always look perplexed when you ask them a question): 1) Does the 2015 have illuminated ignition? 2) Is there a limiter on the models outside the US? 3) Where can I get an end cap for my stock muffler and other cool parts?

Re: Brand new 2015 or used 2013?
I've read that the US model is speed limited to 70 Mp/H (113 Km/H), presumably to protect the drivetrain. And, presumably non-US models would be also.tochan357jp wrote:question: 1) Does the 2015 have illuminated ignition? 2) Is there a limiter on the models outside the US? 3) Where can I get an end cap for my stock muffler and other cool parts?
The ignition supposedly has an illuminated ring.
As for the end cap; Japan and the US may have completely different exhaust systems since our EPA (Enforcing Politics Agency) might make Honda jump through hoops for certification if they don't 'donate' to the right people.
We will see, but, the anticipation is thrilling.

Re: Brand new 2015 or used 2013?
Thank you for your prompt response. I've heard the models outside the US doesn't have a limiter but cannot find confirmation. I guess I'll have to find out for myself and report back. I also plan on doing a comprehensive video review as we'll. I'll post the link once it's created. Look for it in August. (There are all kinds of hoops to jump through for Marines to get a motorcycle license here in Japan.)Tribpreper wrote:I've read that the US model is speed limited to 70 Mp/H (113 Km/H), presumably to protect the drivetrain. Re: Brand new 2015 or used 2013?
Yea, they told me sometimes in September but they also sounded like idiots. One didn't know what the pcx was when I came in. One said "probably $5000" when I pointed to the forza and asked how much bc it was the only one without a price tag. Does anyone know a definite date? Because they have their last 2013 black pcx for $2600 which seems like a good deal even though I really want the 2015
