Honda Forza NSS300 Battery Isolator Switch
I am looking for an elegant solution to fit a battery isolator switch on my Forza.
Since the battery is located under a plastic cover fixed with 3 screws, it would not be very practical to fit the switch there.
Has anyone thought of a solution for this?

Why do you want an isolator switch?

The Forza will be left unused for 6-8 weeks on a regular basis. An isolator switch will prevent battery drainage when not in use.

Why not use a battery tender to keep it topped off instead of cutting it off? Are you lacking an electric source to power a tender? Am I misunderstanding something?

It will be left at an airport so a tender or trickle charger is no option.

Could something like this be considered? http://www.amazon.com/Compact-12000mAH- ... er+charger
I have never used this or anything similar, I just thought I'd mention it. Also I'm not aware of how difficult it is to access the Forza's battery. 3 screws you said.

That is a good idea. However, I would need to take it with me on the plane and I doubt whether Airport Security will be very impressed when I turn up with a jump start kit :-)
I have meanwhile decided to go for the following solution: http://batterynoproblem.com/product.php?pid=67
I don't expect a problem fitting it but I will need to make a small cut out in the plastic tray that covers the battery compartment- just large enough for the rotary switch to protrude.

Even with an isolator switch there's no guarantee it would start after eight weeks of inactivity.
Sym scooters usually have cut off switches under the seat, maybe you could adapt one of those?

I put a pigtail on my Forza's battery that sticks out into the underseat bin. I just plugged it into my battery tender when I stored it for the winter. Started right up in the spring after 5 months of storage.

Maybe just unhook it for the first trip and see what happens before cutting anything.gn2 wrote:Even with an isolator switch there's no guarantee it would start after eight weeks of inactivity.

The HISS system, the red flashing light and the clock will cause some drain of the battery. So disconnecting it must help.
If disconnecting by any means fails, the portable jump start kit mentioned by WhiteNoise earlier, seems to be the best solution.
Let's see how it goes.
Thanks all for your suggestions!

Could you just remove the fuses?

Thw HISS system isn't fitted to all Forzas.
The flashing LED deactivates after 24hrs if left unattended.
It can also be set not to flash at all.
Press Mode to show Total
Press and hold Mode for two seconds, the HISS LED flashes once, turn the ignition off.
The HISS LED will not flash.
