Re: Spanner Wrench for rear shocks
Hey BRed,
You said... "Later on, I found an Ohlins spanner that also worked." I contacted Ohlins... and they said all they have are specifically for their products. Which one did you use... and where can it be purchased?
Can anyone else give me specific info on the Brand and Model# of a Spanner Wrench that will work with my Forza? I have searched with no luck.
Thanks... much appreciated!

Sure would be nice to have that bit of off-set on the tool to work around that tight space on the R shock so near the exhaust. Save having to unbolt the shock for adjusting.

Re: Spanner Wrench for rear shocks
The Ohlins spanner was for an Ohlins custom built shock for the Big Ruckus.....
I don't know what size body they used and it wasn't one of their standard shocks.
The Forza OEM tool looks like this one for a CB900.....

If it fits.....not knowing the exact size, there are still a few options......
here's one universal spanner....

and another.....

and a third (or three?)....

this set includes all 3 common sizes
all of the above items are on eBay now, under "shock spanner"

Re: Spanner Wrench for rear shocks
Two things:
1) Parts Manual... the Parts Manual supplied here is not written for US Forza's... correct? Just want to make sure I understand my documentation.
2) Forza Spanner Wrench... I checked with my dealer and this was determined:
a) They don’t even have a Part # for a Forza Spanner Wrench either Individually or related to a Pro Honda Tool Kit. Assume US Parts Manual.
b) They took my number and will work with a Forza and let me know if he can figure out one that will work. I did tell him about the CB900 Spanner Wrench that was thought to work. I will let you all know what he reports back.

It's very generous they put anything in your tool kit... I got squat for tools, but a lovely helmet loopkramnala58 wrote:Hmmm, I would be nervous when a dealer give me some emergency bedding. this is what's really frakking frustrating......
http://www.bikebandit.com/oem-parts/201 ... #sch795481
check the fiche pic on the website and then the parts list below it.....
someone @ Honda USA should have their ass kicked for this?
basically they're saying...
"yes, there is a toolkit, but you can't have one....not even if you pay for it. How about another screwdriver??"
yes, that piece of foam in the kit (sponge?) DOES cost $5.00!

"Honda Forza" Spanner Tool or Solution Update
8/27/14 1:45pm local Honda Parts Rep updated me as follows...
a. He saw the European Spanner Wrench
b. Spent about 1.5 hours on the phone with various Honda folks trying to find out what should “actually” be used on the USA Forza
c. Finally talked to the people who handle Honda tools and they will get back with him by EOD hopefully
d. He will update me when he has info
I'll let you all know.
BRed... Not sure why Biker Bandit is showing a pic of the EU Toolkit when all they have are the few US Toolkit parts?

Re: Spanner Wrench for rear shocks
A little more information on this......
the preload adjustment nut on the Forza shock absorber is 1 & 13/16" (1.812") or 46mm in diameter.....
a shock spanner in the 45-50mm range should fit it.

9/30/14 AM
I have not forgot about the search for a proper spanner wrench for the Forza.
I was just in contact with my local Honda Dealer and the status of the search is as follows...
He was again in contact with Honda Corporate earlier this week and they keep giving him the same story… they are collaborating with others to come up with a good, workable solution.
I floated the idea that Honda Corporate could quit scratching their heads on this one and just send all Forza owners a European wrench or the European tool kit. Don't hold your breath!
Wish I had better news... but I will stay on it until the bitter end.

Re: Spanner Wrench for rear shocks
I ordered the two-part Spanner Wrench from my local dealer yesterday, 11/20/14.
1) They expect to receive it in about 3 days
2) Total Cost was $14.18

Re: Spanner Wrench for rear shocks
Excellent work.
Thanks for taking the effort to do this for US owners....
the amazing thing was finding a Honda rep who actually listened to you as a concerned scooter owner.
We tend to get brushed off and overlooked in such matters, since we're not "serious" bikers on $20,000 machines.
Thanks!

Re: Spanner Wrench for rear shocks
In case anyone is wondering, all of the online Honda parts fiche sites now also stock the Forza shock absorber spanner/tool and handle....
I just received one from CheapCycleParts which I ordered along with some bolts, gaskets, and oil, air and fuel filters for future maintenance.
I have to say it works much better than any alternative spanner I've found...if you have a Forza, get one!
Thanks again!!
