125 Standard exhaust question.

Post by danieljw »

ok i have noticed that the standard 125 / 150 exhaust come with a CAT built into the actual end pipe, surely like any vehicle fitted with a cat, this is somewhat going to restrict the scooter somewhat?

has anybody got any genuine information in regards to this?

would a leovince grandtourismo free up some revs? thank you.

Feel free to correct me if I'm off base here, anyone. But it's my impression that the cat itself adds very little restriction to the exhaust. Most cats are an open honeycomb matrix design where gases can flow right through.

The pipe size and baffling for noise control would add far more than the cat, specifically.

In other words, a cat-less exhaust may indeed be less restrictive than stock, but not purely because it doesn't have a cat. Rather because it's designed with different tubing and baffle setup than the OE exhaust.

Exhaust change won't make any difference to rpm, the revs are limited by the ecu.
