Sounds like a good guideline. Mine is wired as well under the seat with a power adapter in it most of the time. I need about three more Tenders or clones when they come on sale.

Harbor Freight has el cheapos on sale for next to nothing from time to time. Don't know how good they are, but worth a try if they are cheap enough.

Sears also has little Die Hard ones that go on sale a lot.

The best if you want a good one, in my opinion, are the Opti-Mates.

If you have Advance Auto Parts near you, you can use an online coupon found at Coupon Cabin or RetailMeNot to buy one for 30-40% off. Buy online for local pickup at store of your choice.

I just amazoned several free shipping for $23 each. I got the one I have for $19 on sale.
