Round the World on a PCX

See this guy's going to do a RTW on his PCX. http://www.andrewcharnley.com/

The service interval and the ground clearance are the only problems I can think of. Oh, and the hump.

I have been planning a camping trip round the UK coast this summer on my PCX (going clockwise to keep nearest the sea), but time and money are against me a bit, so maybe just Scotland this year.

That and the utter tedium of the thing.

I wonder how he'll get on with tyres if he gets a flat. I'm not sure the size is popular enough to make getting a new one easy in far flung parts of the world.

I also saw his story via ADVrider.
Maintenance shall be no problem for him, his first idea was to travel the world on a diesel Royal Enfield which he maintained himself. So I think he is technical enough to take care of the PCX.
Tires: you can take one or two with you, the rest you can let somebody send to any address in the world. I believe many world bikers do it like that, at least for some motor parts. And with the popularity of the PCX it must be getting better within time for him to get parts. At least in Thailand he will have no problems!

No way! Maybe where you are, it's all the same... Here, every road tells a different story, and has completely different scenery if you ride it long enough.

I just got back from a trip, and I completely disagree that the best bit is coming home. I wish I was still sitting on a beach in Florida, but alas, I'm in a rolling chair in my office.

My home is in Atlanta, GA, USA... City, State, Country. I was on vacation in Daytona Beach, Florida, USA.

Florida is to USA in a similar way that Wales is to the UK, to use Wooley's example...

I'm not too familiar with the Orlando area, or I'd recommend a few places to go. At Disney, make sure to ride Space Mountain. It's legendary. The rest is fun, but more targeted towards a young audience. I almost always go to Destin, FL -- the Gulf of Mexico has much, much nicer beaches than the Atlantic. That said though, the closest Gulf beach is in Tampa. Tampa's cool, but avoid Saint Petersberg, it's ghettaculous and "they'll rape your white ass." Such was how I was warned, I ignored it, and almost got carjacked. The areas more to the North are safer though, Clearwater is nice.

If you go to an Atlantic beach, West Palm Beach is roughly 3 hours away, but is absolutely gorgeous and a really fancy rich area to go. Last time I went there, the beach was so covered with seashells you couldn't even see the sand. It was beautiful... Here's a pic:

That's awesome thanks alot dave, I'll pm you closer to the date, I'm not going until November. I don't know how far out I will end up going from I-drive, I won't be renting a car as it comes to about £420 because of my age, then there's parking and fuel, it's actually cheaper for me to get taxis to everywhere I wanna go. Maybe when im a few years older I'll go back and rent a mustang

And don't worry about it being aimed at kids, me and my girlfriend have a mental age of about 12

Woolley- If you are going in November be sure to avoid Thanksgiving week.....unless you like long lines. Early November is probably a great time to go.
