My upper coolant tank and/or hose is leaking. I pour in coolant; in 3 seconds it floods the rear tire. I took the bike to the dealer today. I had ordered the tank and hose 7 days ago. The tank is on back-order. Might not arrive for weeks. I want the mechanic to check that the radiator is full so i can take the bike from the dealership. They were going to hold the bike until the tank arrives. I think i can safely drive the bike without an upper coolant tank if i drive slow and for short distances. It might all depend on the size of the radiator.
Forum member "homie" said that he doesn't like long, involved questions. I have tried to keep this as short as i can and still have you understand what i am asking. "homie" if you are reading this; i did take bananas to the mechanics and service writers. Seriously. And some Halloween cookies.

I'm back from the dealer. New upper coolant tank installed. The old one had cracked. The service writer said i could have driven around for short errands with just the radiator filled. It's all fixed now.
