up when removing it during an oil change? If so, was there a reason why it might have gotten dirty? Did it happen at low miles (on the scooter) or high miles?
Would you recommend removing the oil strainer screen during every oil change?
Thanks to forum-member "kcpcx", i watched a video of an oil change. The screen was perfectly clean.
Have you ever seen the oil strainer screen clogged or gunked

Re: Have you ever seen the oil strainer screen clogged or gu
My dad bought a PCX 2013 about a month ago around the time I bought mine. I just talked to him and he said he changed his oil at 600 miles, checked the valves, and changed the final drive oil.
He said the engine oil screen was clean with one exception. A sliver of gasket material was caught by the screen. Probably excess from the assembly of the engine at the factory. No signs of problems, scooter running fine. But the screen does indeed serve a purpose apparently.

I had a speck of gasket material in the first change as well. That's it though.

If I recall, he said they were out of spec a bit, but nothing ridiculous. He commented that it's not a difficult job, it's just a pain to remove all the plastic to access the engine.iceman wrote:kcpcx - do you know if the valves were out?

It is so easy to remove and clean the screen...why not at EVERY oil change?! Oil is cheap.....and the life blood of this little engine. Do your own oil services, use the best oils and keep it clean and the engine will serve you well for a long time.

YES! ONCE!
At the 600 mile oil change.
Never again. I checked at 2500, 5000, and 8000. NOTHING! I suspect it never will again, unless the engine begins to break apart internally.
I'll be pulling the strainer again at 15,000 miles. I'm at 12,500 now Haven't checked since 8000. If nothing at 15,000 I'll only check every spark plug replacement/valve adjustment cycle (15,000 miles for me)

Mineral oil might be inexpensive but it's not cheap
