I Have An Idea....

Post by WhiteNoise »

.......Don't get nervous

Thought this today:

With Thanksgiving this Thursday, and Santa arriving soon afterwards, an inner voice came to me it said.....
"I wonder if our PCX Peeps would be interested in some Holiday Giving, And I do Mean "Giving," this Season? :P

Me? I know I've got Scoot and Bike Stuff lying around that I'm not using or haven't gotten around to using.
Don't we all? Well, why not put it to use by offering it up? We can do that right here on the forum with a pic or two for viewing. Offering it FREE.

If we have enough folks interested and participating, we might consider keeping it going year round.

How would we do this? Hmm...Well, I could start a thread in our Marketplace under For Sale/Wanted. Then we just post up our goods with pics and see if anyone wants what we're giving. First come, first serve basis. The mailing of the item(s) can be left up to the giver as to whether he/she would pay for the shipping or have the receiver pay. Think this is worth a try?

Items being offered should be bike/scooter related (correct?)

Okay, that's what the little voice said.
What say you(s)? Do you have any opinions or add-on thoughts you'd like to share? Is this crazy? Or do ya dig it? Too much? Too soon? Cast away...I'm smelling fire, for Smokin' ideas 8)

I like contests better... over at the Friendly Metal Detecting forum we do contests for trinkets found in the sand and gear not needed. People like to play games and guess how many wheaties are in a jar... or in our case how many spark plugs  or whatever the contest evolves.

Go ahead try it WN, fill a jar with something and offer your overstock for the first to post the exact count and you will have jockey's logging in for the first time ever just to win anything of value. Just make sure it has disclaimers and Maddie Dog is cool with it because sometimes there are disputes that need a judge to decide.

Okay homie, are you a finder of trinkets, treasures and goodies? I say, bring on your contest ;)
I'm speaking of scoot stuff giveaways...freebies. Like it? Want it? Say so and It's yours!
You're idea is a fun one, but...it's not mine. You know Your Wheaties, marbles, bottle caps, etc. Play It!

Holidays for All:
Each Christmas I donate all kinds of stuff to our local Church thrift store. They have a kitchen and pantry too for the poor and many books. Folks there and I have gotten to know each other well. :P I'll show up and ask, "Did Ya find me a leather motorcycle jacket yet?" They reply, "Take a look in the back, we might have missed one, but we're still keeping an eye out."
HaHa! It's been years. Lots of clothes, mine too, but I never find me a leather MC jacket. One day they Will surprise me ;)

BTW homie, I've always had a itching to treasure sweep and dig/sift for jewels. Both different things, but I bet Good Fun! :P

Meet the homies Ron & Marc... these two are famous in Chi-Town. A couple or firemen that work across from the lakefront, you have to be walking distance to hunt the lakefront beaches like these two do or parking will offset your finds in the end LOL. If I lived where you do WN I would be the biggest beach bum MD'er in Florida. These two have balls of steel and you will see them out in the surf long after ice is forming on the shore. You need a (PI) pulse induction machine if you want the big gold and you have to wade off waist deep to get where it falls off. After lake storms I have been known to make the beach but really I'm more of a dry land jewelry hunter.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aho4Kvc ... Rh_XRkmYMQ

At the end of each year they dump all they have found on a table and video it...AMAZING! They always return anything traceable like graduation rings and do other worldwide hunts plus ancient Saxon gold coin hunts and the like.

I would be up for this, but the problem is that I don't know when I will get a chance to sort through my stuff and post it. Most of it is stock items I have replaced with custom add-ons.

The problem with this idea may be the same for all of us. I have spare original parts, such as original seat (2), original windshield (2), original brake levers (2 sets), original shocks (2 sets). Notice the term "original". No one seems to want or need the original parts. If anyone wants them, just pay for shipping and they are yours.
Currently own:
Red 2013 Honda PCX150

Givi tall windshield & tailbox - Lots of extra lights
Custom seat from Thailand - Bad Boy Airhorn
Takegawa Lowering Shocks - Michelin City Grip Tires
Headlight assy upgraded to LEDs w/HS5 main bulbs
NCY variator, drive face, and rollers

Oops! WAIT!!
Don't go offering yer stuff here Mel! We gots ta start a proper thread first!

Who says no one wants that stuff of yours? Folks might have cracks in theirs, or tears in thar saddles, or broken brake,..you don't know. Heck, what's that saying mean again?....
"One Man's Trash Is Another Man's Treasure!"

Can't hurt to list it. If it goes, it goes and someone will be thankful and smiling.

Story:
I put stuff out to the curb all the time, whether it be an older BBQ, hot water heater, outdoor swing chair disability bench or anything really. It ALWAYS disappears! Someone needs what I have, and what you have. You don't need to meet them to make "their day!"

I'm not saying we're poor, or rich for that matter. Just saying make an offer IF you care too.

Happy Turkey Ya Hooligan's! :D

You'll want to put those back on for resale and part out the after market stuff or install on your next PCX. I'm keeping all OEM parts in storage.

When it comes time to sell my pcx there will be a lot of versions of it out by that time and most people would be happy to have upgrades to an older scooter. I plan on keeping this scooter until i can no longer ride because of old age or illness. Then i might give it to my grandkids. My 16 year grandson has been eyeing it already. With the upgrades on it, it doesn't even look like the original bike. It looks so much more comfortable (and is) and the other additions just make it a lot more fun to ride, like the tall Givi windshield, which keeps the wind off of you, and the adjustable shocks that make the ride smoother, and the extra lights for night riding, and the Givi tailbox to store your helmet or groceries in, or the tank bag to put a rain suit in for easy access if it rains. And the new custom seat is oh so comfortable! And last but not least, Michelin City Grip tires for great cornering. Why go back to basics when you can ride in comfort? Meanwhile, the original parts are just taking up space in our basement.
