Mobius vs. Go Pro? - Helmet or Bike Mount?

The journalist who made that claim has written other things to sensationalize his stories. Read the comments. It's just another reason to use a much smaller Mobius.

The Mobius is almost small enough to fit inside the helmet 1.5 x 1.5 x .5 inch's. Perhaps helmet makers will accommodate us in the future with a tiny recessed area. They already have the rearview cam.SECoda wrote:The journalist who made that claim has written other things to sensationalize his stories. Read the comments. I didn't quote a tabloid - not directly anyway - but from a news report some weeks ago (TV report, right or wrong, no idea where they got that info from).

I found one for $29I got jacked on an Ontario lock blade that the picture showed one thing and the shipment was a surprise. Same shell game with flip sights for AR's, what you see is not always what you get and always the super low price is the clue.

semi automatic rifles were never assault rifles anyway. These days we are to use the term “tactical rifle” or “modern sporting rifle"

Re: Mobius vs. Go Pro? - Helmet or Bike Mount?
I think you are right about the knockoff camera possibility . I am worried about what I will get when it arrives, but I am hoping that it will still work if it is plugged in all the time. It is far from what I want though. At the moment I have a Kodak standard point and shoot camera that have video capability. It worked well on my big Burgman, but not on my little PCX. The vibration causes the movies to look jittery, even with stabilization built in. I don't know if the G1W will even be worthwhile, but at least I would not have put a lot of money into it. Has anyone had any luck putting a camcorder on the bike itself? I know it works well on the helmet, but what about on the bike?

My Grom buddy is having more luck mounted on the bike itself (handlebars). I have some mounts coming to try.
He accidentally had a cloth in front of the lens.. Be sure to click the Settings for 1080P and wait for the HD to appear that it switched. It makes a huge difference.

Re: Mobius vs. Go Pro? - Helmet or Bike Mount?
It was just YT going offline for a few minutes I think... never start tearing at your configurations when things go haywire until you wait a couple minutes and a reboot is always goodSECoda wrote:Why kind of device are you viewing the video on?

Lets talk Mobius a second, MOV or AVI?
1. MOV was created by Apple as a container for QuickTime while AVI was developed by Microsoft for their media player
2. AVI is relatively old and has been replaced by Microsoft with WMV format
3. AVI does not provide native support for MP4 codecs while MOV does
4. AVI does have some of the advanced capabilities that are available in MOV
5. MOV can have subtitles in them while AVI cannot
6. AVI is still more popular compare to MOV simply because of its widespread use
research taken from here http://www.differencebetween.net/techno ... ov-vs-avi/
I wanted to use video editing software to edit and merge my valve clearance adjustment into one giant video for YT rather then a playlist but the software I have doesn't even support quicktime MOV files. So this had me switching the default format on the Mobius to AVI... your thoughts? What is a decent free editing software for .MOV files?
Re: Mobius vs. Go Pro? - Helmet or Bike Mount?
Are there any file size differences between .MOV and .AVI? I tried MPG4 but they are twice the size. I have not done much editing yet but obviously anything Apple will work on the .MOV's. I bet there are some decent freebies on CNET Download.

Re: Mobius vs. Go Pro? - Helmet or Bike Mount?
My understanding is MOV is more compressed than AVI and would allow for the most footage for the same storage space. I'm a windows format diehard and never used a Mac. Always avoided some products including Olympus cameras and the like just because they got in bed with quicktime player and made it very hard to manage pictures on your computer unless you used their proprietary software that was complicated and SUCKED anyway... yea I'm a PC loverSECoda wrote:Are there any file size differences between .MOV and .AVI? Re: Mobius vs. Go Pro? - Helmet or Bike Mount?
As was stated above, Mov is a container not a codec - so compression (file size) only applies to what is contained in it i.e. h264 being good quality for a given size/compression. Mpg (usually Mpeg 2) older and less efficient compression compared to H264/MP4. For comparison, a DVD (SD) uses Mpeg2 and 1 hour at best quality SD fits in 4.3GB, H264 compression in an MKV container at HD can fit great HD quality for a 1hr item in 1.5GB's (for example) at decent bitrate. H264 MKV at really good HD can be 4GB's.

Q. can I get free software to edit MOV files so I don't have to use AVI with Mobius action cam?
Q. do you agree with Mobius engineers that MOV is better than AVI and why?
Just ordered a second Mobius today from this site because all the stuff this package comes with. They already shipped and sent a tracking number. Glad to see they are on their game this holiday season

SEcoda you need to check mSetup WinRAR for the latest firmware release... v2.25
Re: Mobius vs. Go Pro? - Helmet or Bike Mount?
Thanks - yes I applied that newer firmware again a while back. I should have posted.
I am sure there are Windows products available for .MOVs (for free
). I will search tonight.
I was going to take another ride but it clouded up now and is getting dark out.

Anywho I think this will make a decent gift for my father-in-law and after xmass I would like to game one off in this forum if maddie will help. We could guess how many whatzits in a jar and the first to post correctly wins a MOBIUS! WOOT

Maddie would be the only one to know beside me how many was in the jar to fair but there are other complications and rules that will offend non US residents so its up to Maddie to ban this kind of gaming or not.

Homie - I've not tried this but reviews seem good - http://download.cnet.com/VSDC-Free-Vide ... 64187.html
Not sure the merits of Mov vs AVI, but AVI is old and Mov is industry stantard and can contain lots of features - lots of audio tracks, subtitles, compressed or lossless video, and can be played back on many platforms.

Re: Mobius vs. Go Pro? - Helmet or Bike Mount?
I forgot what day it was but the software told me there was that update. I am in there modifying something often. I went back to 1080P 30 FPS but dumbed down the settings to minimize the YT compression effect. The motion on the road is just too much kbps if I start pushing things. It's a shame because the videos are so great on my PC and 60" HDTV.
