How long can i expect my battery to last?

2013 PCX150. Should i go ahead and replace it after 2,3,4 years just to save the trouble of walking out one day and finding the battery dead? I think back to the days when car batteries died in 2 years. Now they often last 5 years.

I have 2,500 miles on the scooter. It is starting easily. Originally put in service July, 2013. The local dealer says he always stocks a PCX battery; but tries not to keep more than he can sell in 30 days. So he will have a battery for me when i need one.

I have not opened my battery compartment. I have read the manual; replacing the battery looks easy. Is it as easy as it looks? Any things to watch out for?

I went on a 50 mile ride yesterday. Another 5 miles today. Phoenix temps near 60º.

Don't leave your scoot sit for more then two weeks without running it and you should be fine. When the battery starts to fail replace it then.

Hey yak, if you have access to electricity why not invest in a battery maintenance charger? A very popular one among bikers, is the Battery Tender Jr. from DelTran. My scoot is hooked up to one right now. Take a look at these videos, it's one of the Best tools available and costs less than a New Battery It might even prolong the lifespan of the one you have

WN is right... these are inexpensive insurance for a healthy battery in the spring. At a glance you can verify battery condition all winter.

You can even bring the battery indoors and hook it up inside to one of these. Might be a better idea when it gets REALLY COLD OUT IN THE GARAGE (like it does here in NY). Burrr...
Say...just how cold does it get in Phoenix?

I found out with my Ford F150 even 3 weeks at very cold temps can cause the acid/water separation and freezing shorting a cell on a dead battery. My hood light switch malfunctioned and stayed on last winter when it was very cold for a while.

I can ride my scooter year-round. No winter storage in Phoenix, AZ. Most PCX owners started with the 2013 model in the USA. Just wondering what you think the expected lifespan of these batteries would be?

On Yuasa lead-acid sealed cycle batteries I would say 4-5 years if maintained (charged). Not sure on these yet. The charging system on a bike can affect the battery life as can many variables.

Hi my bike birth was 2010 according to VIN number it has its original battery. It was sold to its first owner in August 2012 and I acquired it April 2014 with 250 miles on the clock. I have taken the mileage up to 3000 miles. I use the bike for commuting. But recently due to personal holidays and a working trip to China I have not used the bike for over a month and it is stored outside in UK Autumn/winter. The bike started first time last Saturday when it was -5c here it is on its first battery, plus I use start/stop with no problems. Therefore looking at its history I think you have nothing to worry about....for comfort I have fitted a volt meter and it was showing 11.5 v and started.

We have two 2013 pcx 150 scooters. Our first one was bought in August of 2012. It has been running so great that i traded in my Burgman and bought a 2013 pcx 150 for myself. Both bikes are running strong. We have a battery tender jr too, and i use it if the bikes sit longer than a couple of weeks. I wouldn't worry about the battery until it starts acting up.

My bike is a 2011 and it's the original battery. It sits for 2 or 3 months over the winter doing nothing and has always started no problem. 4 or 5 years is a reasonable service life for a lead acid battery but there are probably plenty of vehicles with a lot older ones than that..

By the way, for those whose battery is truly dying, Battery Tender has a lithium ion battery for motorcycles now. Yes, it is expensive, but if you didn't want to worry about your battery any more you can always get one of those. Still, if your battery still works, forget about it. (I always wanted to say that. :-)
