Updating the seat

My legs are definitely too long for the standard seat of the PCX, so had it modified. After the second modification it is perfect for me now, the total cost of the change was about 20 Euros here in Thailand. Now it is a real seat, not a wrong copy of Yamaha's TMax... See attached pictures.

I had to order it and wait about two weeks. A white one would have been available after one week, a black (shudder!) one immediately. I am glad that I waited. More pictures will follow weather permitting. Right now it rains cats&dogs here in Phuket/Thailand.
The picture shows my bike in front of the seat modification shop in Phuket. Mine is the second one, seat taken off. The first one is the 125er of my friend, with homemade highway-bars attached. Oh yes - the trike-driver is the son of the shop-owner!

Hah, cute kid. :)

How did he make the highway bars? I've wanted to stretch my legs on the PCX a few times, but never had room. That would provide it... It looks like he'd drag them in tight corners though.

Yeah, stretching legs is tricky for me too... these bars could help.
I am also expecting a new hump-free seat soon, maybe sitting farther back will allow stretching.

Nice ride. Can you comment on the seat strength/integrity with the 2 seat pins removed? I have had my seat recovered minus the hump and plus additional padding but the pins are still,there and can be felt. How much does the seat flex if any due to the removal of the pins?

No problem, even with me (100kg+) and a passenger (~80kg). The seat is solid, and much more comfortable for the passenger now. And I can change my position (riding alone), stretching legs is no problem.

Not at all. An idea might be to place some PCB-Board or Acryl, whatever plastic over the holes where the pins have been. Fix it with hot glue, it will be held in place by the foam later.

The rain stopped and so it was time for a short trip around the island. This picture was taken near the south end of Phuket Island. In two weeks I will take a week's trip to Kho Lanta to test the new seat on the long run. For the next year I am planning a trip all around Thailand, about 4 weeks or so. Clockwise around the country, will be a few thousand kilometers. I will keep you posted in the "Trips" section, joiners on the way are welcome. Someone out there?

I've thought about how to get rid of that hump! If anyone knows how to get it done in the US (maybe over the winter?) I'd love to know.

Depthman - lots of motorcycle shops will do it. A few members here have done it themselves. You remove the hump, dremel out the mounting area, add more foam if you want, then re-staple on new leather (marine vinyl from any fabric shop is perfect) with an air stapler. Maybe I should do a how-to. :lol:

Yup, that'll work! It won't last too long though, Harbor Freight tools are just a step above disposable from my experience. :P
