I might worry a bit about the acceleration with 18s.

I just stuck it down with two sided tape just below the reset button on the dash.

Yep that's the Face Plate in my title I just put on.
Just did 25 miles at 29 F. Never got cold. I reached 72 mph in a slight downhill and 74 in a steeper one after putting about 15 more miles on the new parts (so 20 miles in total on the new NCY parts before I tried the high speed runs. My first attempt was on a highway with a limit of 65 mph. I just got up to about 71 mph when I spotted the state trooper on the side a block ahead of me. Whew. I bet he wondered what the heck I was doing out the cold.
I didn't mount the tach yet but it never hit the rev limiter like it did before at 68.

No limiter means more speed to go in favorable conditions.

Do you still think the 13g rollers are optimal?

secoda, has the ncy face plate holes for the tool to hold it when install and uninstall it??
Re: NCY Variator, Face Plate, 13gr Rollers, Belt for 2013 1
Nope. I was able to use the locking feature on the one bought on amazon to lock it bottomed out against the fins. Luckily, they didn't break.

Get a DeWalt cordless impact driver of some type and go for it. You won't break anything, and they come in handy for all sorts of other projects. Forget the one at a time thing at this point Mel. The variator/faceplate/12-13r roller mods are a no brainer since so many have done it, verified/qualified it, and swear by it. The pipe and filter made mine accelerate harder too, but maybe not enough for the $$$. seriously, go for it.Mel46 wrote:I have multiple questions now. First let me say that I plan on installing one part at a time, in case there is a problem during the test rides. What should i expect from just installing the 13 gram rollers before installing anything else?
second question: i have a new standard belt to install. Will this be fine or should i get one of the reinforced belts others are gettintg?
last question: Has anyone found the correct clutch holding tool for this bike? The one i have been looking at on Amazon is the one Dave suggested. He had no problem with it, but he's a lot more experienced at tearintg these bike down than many of us. So before i buy it i want to be sure it is not the one others are having problems with.

I preffer the one from webike-Advance pro. Good balanced weight and bigger diameter work really well.kalai1622 wrote:has anyone installed this one?? https://www.scooterdomain.com/ncy-drive ... -1193.html

which difference did you notice after installing it? what I have to expect from it? accelaration? top speed? low fuel consumption?
Re: NCY Variator, Face Plate, 13gr Rollers, Belt for 2013 1
Hey guys. I see some references to replacing the belt with a Gates Powerlink or some other Kevlar/reinforced belt for better performance. Anyone have a specific place to get them in the USA and a part number for a 2013 150 PCX? I hate to put my new OEM belt on just to have it wear down back to where I am now in 1000 miles. TIA

Now that you have your tach, what is the pulling rpm of the NCY vario with 13g weights?

There's plenty of that brand available on eBay, but it's hard to pick out the right one without the specific part number for that particular belt for the PCX.SECoda wrote:Hey guys. Honestly, I might just eat the shipping costs and buy a kevlar belt from webike. My personal experience with scooter web shops have been rather poor as of late.

Re: NCY Variator, Face Plate, 13gr Rollers, Belt for 2013 1
I can tell the rpms are up a bit in the 0-40 mph range and faster low-end acceleration. At my max speed of 74 mph the tach was about 9000-9100 rpm. I forgot to look at the max before I turned it off. It never hit the rev limiter like it used to at 67-68. I am wondering if the rollers are a bit light given the boost in rpms on the low end.

Re: NCY Variator, Face Plate, 13gr Rollers, Belt for 2013 1
Need to know what the pulling rpm is. The way a CVT works, you will see an almost constant rpm at a full throttle run between 30 and 55 mph. This is why you need the tach in order to set the weights to about 8,000 rpm for the best acceleration.SECoda wrote:I am wondering if the rollers are a bit light given the boost in rpms on the low end.

52 F there today - I will try to squeeze in a test. It was pretty high like that from what I can remember but we will make sure.
