A new member from Ontario Canada

Hello Forza enthusiasts. I am completely new to the forum concept, so please bear with me in my first attempt. I have put a down payment on a new red on-sale 2014 Honda Forza 300 with ABS and just want to introduce myself. I'm in my 60's and this will be my first scooter. The Honda Forza looks great and I am looking forward to the automatic transmission, the fairing, and the storage room. Shifting gears is getting to be a pain in the behind and takes away from the focus on the riding experience especially in town.
My past motorcycles include three Matchless motorcycles consisting of two 500cc twins and a 500cc single, three BSA motorcycles all 650cc twins, one being the fast 1968 Lightening Rocket, a BMW 500cc opposed cylinders with the odd girling? front forks, a large Harley piece of junk, and for the last four years a Hyosung GV250 Aquila (please don't ask, hey, it at least looks good), and my all time favourite, a little 1960, I think it was, 200cc single Ariel Colt that I still wish was in my possession today. One quarter of the famous Ariel square four.
I am writing to tell you how much I appreciated all your postings and the valuable information they provide. They influenced my Forza purchase in a very positive fashion.
The recall information was very useful, and I would like to share the Transport Canada Honda Forza fuel pump notification recall, under the Transport Canada identification notice 2014473 and TC ID number 2014473 dated November 19, 2014, and the Honda Canada fuel pump recall notice dated November 2014, campaign number M11 and M12 (one of which is for the Grom). My new dealer apparently was not aware my new Forza was one of the possible 1312 recalled Forzas in Canada, but a VIN check and a call to Honda Canada set him straight.
I look forward to future conversation regarding the Forza as well as some enjoyable riding this spring/summer/fall. Current temperature 6 degrees Fahrenheit with strong wind, snowy white outs, and the highway closed again.
Again thank you and lets at least keep the information highway open. M

Welcome to the forum! Congratulations on your new Forza. I just bought one myself a month ago to complement my PCX. Where at in Ontario do you live? I frequent the Kenora area for hunting and vacations. Please add Ontario to your profile so we know where you Honda was purchased because there are different versions out there by country.

I just did 63 miles on mine a little while ago because our temps got up to 53 F here in Missouri. Actually, you posted in the PCX area but that is alright. There is a ton of crossover. I own both bikes and go back and forth. I use my PCX for camping and local runs but the Forza for touring out further.

Interesting that you have had all of those bikes and you settled on a 300cc scooter.Not that it isn't a great scooter....I just thought about how many of us have gone from large motorcycles to scooters as well and it just seems like we are "settling" from the viewpoint of those still riding big bikes. When I bought my first scooter it was a 400cc Burgman. I loved it, but eventually sold it and settled on my current PCX 150. Either we are getting more cautious as we get older, or we are finally seeing how much fun it is to not have to worry about shifting. In either case, welcome to the forum.

I still ride large bikes. I bought the 125 for the city, but have found I enjoy using it on longer journeys.

My brother lives in Orleans. He has complained to me about taxes there and snow. Snow is something none of us can do much about, but taxes are something else. He left the Units States after 2 tours in Viet Nam . Granted tax's are high in Canada, but if anyone looked at the taxes here, including hidden taxes we pay, our taxes are probably very near the taxes in Canada. However, in Canada you get medical coverage. Here we get Obama care, which requires everyone to pay for insurance even if you can't afford to get insurance, or else you pay the government. Either way, you have to pay even if you don't get insurance. Some people are lucky and can get government help with it. Others aren't so lucky, like us. So how is it any better here than in Canada? I think my brother is viewing the taxes over here through rose colored glasses. Even so, Ottawa is a beautiful city. I loved visiting it in the winter as well as in the spring.

Welcome from another Canuck, living on the other side of the world. I grew up in the Hamilton area.

I am close to your age and only started riding when I moved to Thailand just under three years ago and have a PCX. I have often thought that when I moved back to Canada or the US (we spent 12 years there and our children live there now - Niagara Falls area), I will get a Forza. It probably isn't a great long tour bike but seems to be perfect for around town and countryside drives.
