How far have you rode your scooter?
How far, one way, have you rode your scooter? Im thinking about riding my scooter to asheboro which is about 45 miles away. I've never rode any scooter or motorcyle that far (im a new rider). Is it safe to ride my new pcx that far? & What all would you carry with you to make trips like that.
P.s In the future I plan on riding my scooter to miami lol

Re: How far have you rode your scooter?
Shortly after I got mine, rode 460km round trip. Pack snacks, water and perhaps a little extra fuel.
Also a pillow and sheep skin
It was a blast!

Safe? Sure it's safe. You just have to figure out your current fuel mileage on the highway and check to see if your tank capacity will last you that far.
Other than that, it all depends on bladder/bowel fortitude and whether or not you need to eat or drink along the way. Admittedly that's a lot easier on an island where there's only one or two major highways in several miles, due either east or west mostly, so you can only get so lost
.
My furthest is 38 miles roundtrip, very short hop.

No rain it was summer and very warm. My only issue was my seat. The rig I used worked great for the first 350km or so. Now have an Airhawk seat cushion with over 8000km on it. That makes all the difference. Happy cheeksdog64bull wrote:Thats pretty cool lol did u get hit by any rainMikeP wrote:Shortly after I got mine, rode 460km round trip. When going to work, I go 25-miles one way. Mostly city, average 40-45MPH, 105+MPG. I fill up every other trip to be on the safe side. Put 4000 miles on my first year, 2500 my second (I don't ride in the rain or wind over 20-MPH)
Started riding my 150 April 2013. I do not take it on the expressway/freeway. To lightweight and top speed is only 62-65 MPH.
Enjoy your riding

My longest one day trip was 430 miles, mostly highways. No problems with the PCX. Carried only basics like gas money. Went through one thunderstorm and some rain on and off, but mostly dry weather. Probably wouldn't ever do it again, especially the rain and thunderstorm parts.

Re: How far have you rode your scooter?
During the summer we take day trips on the scooters. Here is our typical "Day" trip: From Atlanta, Ga. Follow your map to Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, and back home. We would get home after dark. Dave has often made rides like this as well. When we want to ?shorten our ride we will just ride up to Tennessee, across to the North Carolina border, down to South Carolina, and back to our home. There are plenty of gas stations out there, but if you are concerns, carry a gas container with a gallon of gas. Considering that the scooter gets over 100 mpg, that can should get you to a gas station easily.

Re: How far have you rode your scooter?
My longest day was about 360 miles from home in Tryon out to Deal'sGap and back. Had to get my vanity photo.

Just took rain gear and water/snacks.
This bike went 23,000 miles last summer over five months. David was ready to get home but wanted to keep going at the same time.

The bike can do it. Get on it and ride.

Re: How far have you rode your scooter?
I did 136 miles last Saturday when It got up to 59 F here.
No planned trip - just riding around. I often take a rural road I have not been on before to see where I will end up.

Re: How far have you rode your scooter?
To us, that is the best way to ride... no planned trip, rural roads, just riding. Lots to explore. Just go for it and don't worry about the road. If it turns into dead end, judt turn around. All you lost was some time. Most of the time though we aim north, south, east, west and just go. If we plan it then we just start riding and don't track how long it took to go from point to point.

Here are a couple of other pics of his set up. He did fab up the stand offs in his garage. I don't recall if he had any breakdown of the mounts. David (Duallyman) did have a couple of offs during his trip and the bike was intact for the most part when he returned.

We need to plan a meet in the North Ga. Mtns. this spring. My kids live in Canton and a ride down that way is needed.Mel46 wrote:To us, that is the best way to ride... no planned trip, rural roads, just riding. Lots to explore. Driller, i don't see your location so i don't know how far you would have to come to get here. We go through Canton a lot when we ride. We definitely could set up a ride meetup.
