I have one PCX 2013, what about another for "parts"

Post by MikeP »

My dealer has discounted some of the 2013 PCX's. Has two left and 2900.00 canadian out the door. I was thinking is it crazy to buy one for parts? I could make use of everything including the plastics.
Considering,
Fuel pump and filter 550.00
Rims 400.000 each
Plastics 350.00
Engine ? not sure could not get a price
Exhaust 350.00

I know 2900 can buy a lot of parts, but my gun culture kicks in whereas one is none, and two is one.

Thanks for your opinions.

You actually plan to use the parts, or are you selling the parts?

Generally speaking, I'm pretty sure the parts are cheap enough that you don't need to spend the other 2700 unnecessarily.

I was thinking to keep the drive train parts and sell off the other pieces. My bigest concern is to ensure the engine is replaceable and or servicable. I have been averaging 2000 k per month and fear I am going to wear this bike out. I absolutly love it and could see myself riding it for the next 30 years if it lasted that long.

Did you ever ask your dealer if you could replace the engine if you needed to?

I only bring this up because i would expect Honda to either further refine this model, or offer an upgraded model.

The 2015 model was a little odd given that they lowered the gearing on it, but it does have LED lighting as well as the larger gas tank.

I did ask the dealer the cost of a new engine, he said he could not get one. I would have to buy the parts I needed to fix the old one. He could not assure me that parts would be readily available. Be honest I love Honda but their dealers .....ahem.

Why not just buy a second and leave it complete until the first dies? If you have mods you could always switch them over to the new bike.

I went to my dealer today to pick up some new Honda decals. YouYou was kind enough to point out that mine were on backwards. And I think slowed me down.....
The last of the 2013's sold out for 2950.00 out the door and the 2015's were in stock at 4450.00 out the door. What a huge difference in my mind for the two. Nonetheless thank you all for your feedback. I ended up not buying a second bike simply because for 3k I think I could buy a lot of parts and since I changed out the CVT, exhaust and tires, I would be left with parts I would not use and have to sell to get some of my money back. Better to buy the parts as I need them.
Thanks again you all, your great! :D

Wings and Things
 Yo Mike, you know that you you will want to see you "flying" in the proper direction  Now

Good that you made a decision that you're comfie with. Parts can be had whenever. Though I must say, the price of the leftovers were very enticing. I understand that! ;)
