Suzuki V Strom 1000 Adventure ABS

It is looking like this may be my next play bike. I am still exploring some other make/models. Local support is strong for Suzuki and reliability is #1.

I guess I forgot to put why I posted this. Does anyone have one or a 650 that could tell me how they like it? I think the 650 is 474 lbs and the 1000 just a tad heavier but not much. TIA

BTW - I found out the adventure-touring craze is in full swing in my area.

Just tried a V Strom 650 at our other Suzuki dealer. Its about 28 lbs lighter and nearly $4k less expensive but otherwise the same. It is funny because the dealership with the 1000 gave me all of the reasons I would want that one and the guy with the 650 said just the opposite. Salesman. The power difference really wasn't noticeable on my test rides but I did notice the weight difference and the 650 had a very slight edge on nimbleness. I wonder how well the traction control feature really works? The tanks are the same size so there is some gain in range with the 650. In my area the 650 is more than adequate and folks are using much less.

I'd go for the 650 just for insurance purposes. It should be plenty powerful enough for any long distance touring you'd want to do on it. Great choice though. Fully kitted out with side and top cases. Insert heart eyes and drool smiley faces here.

I love my DL650. 2015 w/ a hair over 1,000 as of this morning. Averaging 59mpg.

Perfectly fine at 30 mph, 45, 55, 85. Comfortable 2-up, even with a tall wife. Nearly as quiet as the PCX... which is nice, but I'd like a 2Bros or Yoshi exhaust on it.

There you go - nice photos. I found a 2015 Suzuki V Strom 650 Adventure at another local dealer marked down. I will take a look at it on Saturday. It is 474 lbs before the extras for the Adventure designation. It is the same - very quiet yet it will cruise at 90.

Here is a shot from the Arkansas 500 south of me. 500 miles in three days for charity this weekend.

I'm not the only one! Hope you enjoy your new bike when you get it. Saw someone going by the name of Kermit on the Honda CTX700 forum. They mentioned that they also have a PCX150. Wonder if it's our Kermit?

Some dealers across the country have these 2013 bikes new marked down quite a bit plus shipping which isn't to bad. I checked them out and they are very reputable dealers. It's nearly $2k less than my local dealer before shipping for a new 2013. I will see if my dealer will match but that is quite a difference. Any issues with buying and shipping them?
