A PCX during Songkran

Songkran is Thailand's biggest water fight. Ok, it didn't start out that way, but that's what it is now. I stole this picture of a man and three kids riding a PCX through a water battle zone. If you wish to see more, go to http://bangkokpost.com/photo/photo/529211

Don't you just love all the bike safety shown? LOL This is why I travel to America. To escape all that.

I'm surprised Vietnam has a helmet law and Thailand doesn't.

Looks fun though.

Thailand does have a helmet law, but very few people obey it. Many just buy a 100-200 baht ($3-6) helmet and rest it on their forehead. I'm the odd man out with a DOT certified full-face helmet LOL

Think of all the money in fines that country could get if they stopped everyone AND their family who did not have a helmet on. With 3 to 5 people on those scooters it would add up quickly. But then you also stop them for traffic violations, and that would bring traffic to a crawl. They obviously don't mind taking their lives in their hands when they get on those scooters over there, so why worry about a helmet.

Most times it doesn't lead to a fine, just a quick 50-100 baht ($1.50-$3.00) "gift" to the cop, and you are on your way.
