Correct Oil for PCX?
Hi Folks,
I've had a read of the manual and it's very specific about the type of oil that they recommend. Unfortunately, I'm having trouble relating that to an off-the-shelf brand that we have here in New Zealand (eg Shell, Mobil etc). I don't mind spending the big bucks to get the best oil -- just not sure what that is.
Shell have a premium oil just for scooters, but it appears to be "MA" instead of "MB" - and on it goes.
Anyone able to give me a quick product name?

Might be able to answer my own question here. I found this:

Thoughts anyone?
Many thanks,
Cheers,

Looks like that one meets or exceeds the classification requirements, just remember to get the 10W-30 viscosity. If the oil you want isn't locally available, just order it online(my solution to everything).

That looks perfect. 10w 30 for where you are, or 10w 40 if it a hotter country.

Thanks folks. I had a look in a couple of Shell shops today -- no dice so far. Will keep looking (on and off-line).
Many thanks again,

Honda catch 22
if you follow all their specs there is no such animal
I'm sure they charge any oil manufacturer to include their spec on the label
some of the 10-30 high mileage oils with API-SJ or higher would be OK
the API classification is the ticket

Amazons has most if not all you need - so should be able to order it online and save searching around locally. Most oils will be fine as others have stated many times due to the PCX having a dry clutch. Fully synthetic 5w30 through 10w40 (dependant on locale).

Re: Correct Oil for PCX?
I use Shell Rotella T5 in 10w-30. It carries an API rating of SM, which exceeds the requirements of the factory specified SJ requirement in my owner's manual). I just bought a gallon for $13.59 plus tax that came with a $5.00 mail in rebate. Win, Win!!!
The "MB" Jaso rating is, well, the Japanese rating system. I find it interesting that my local Powerhouse Honda dealer cannot even GET oil rated "MB".
Off topic, but I run Rotella T6 in my 250 Ninja. 13,000+ RPM everywhere I go on it. I flog it like a rented mule.
