KTM 125 Duke.
Look what I just got I need a geared bike so I can get some practice in before doing the UK full bike test.
Saw this on ebay - only 322mls on the clock, it's like new. Big saving ( I paid £2850) on new price and should sell pretty quick when I'm done with it in a couple of months.

Very funky, I like those.

Nice! Something tells me you won't be done with it in a couple of months though

Re: KTM 125 Duke.
It's very well put together - higher standard of finishes than the pcx, but honestly why aren't all bikes just twist and go like scooters? In traffic the ktm is a pain.
Suspension is good and it's a bit more perky from standstill (it's still being run in - 7,500 rpm max) than the pcx. My main problem so far is that the indicator and horn positions are swapped from the pcx so I end up honking when I mean to indicate
I collected it from Manchester and rode it back to Carlisle - about 125 miles (it used about 5 litres of fuel) - when I got off the bike I checked it over and found that the chain had been throwing oil off unto the wheel and tyre. I never felt like it was slipping in corners though. This has got me thinking about how much chain lube is needed and how often. I see you can get an auto chain oiler similar to a Scott Oiler, for under £20 so I might invest in one of those. Any advice?
It's booked in for it's 600 mile service on Tuesday, so I'll be able to give it a bit of wellie on the way home.
There is now a 200cc version of this bike if anyone is interested in them - it would be great fun in the twisties.

Re: KTM 125 Duke.
Oh man, I wish we could get these in the USA. I have a KTM125SX for MX and trail riding, I'd love a counterpart on the road. KTMs are great bikes, but parts are super expensive. The only on-road KTMs we get here are the huge superdukes. They're way too much bike for me, I'd kill myself.
I oil my KTM's chain every time it's dirty. They're o-ring chains, so they need oiled less often than you'd think. Just oil it every 500-1000 miles with a good silicone spray.

Re: KTM 125 Duke.
That's useful information, thanks. I've ordered myself one of the automatic oilers mentioned by qed. I'll take it off the duke when I sell and put it on any bike I get after.maddiedog wrote: I oil my KTM's chain every time it's dirty. The 125 & 200 Duke are built in India so it may be KTM will start to expand their range in the US as they will be able to have a healthy profit margin. Parts should be cheaper too.
I wish the pcx could do this:

Fit a snorkel and it could.

Re: KTM 125 Duke.
I love those Dukes, i nearly bought one, a mate bought one and i had a go on it. it was 50/50 whether i got one or went for a scooter. in the end it was the ease of use of the twist and go that persuaded me. really smart bike though

Re: KTM 125 Duke.
Passed my Mod 2 Direct Access (that means I can ride any size bike now - can't stop thinking about Hayabusas after 125s) 3 hours ago So now the KTM will have to go. It's got about 1800 - 1900 miles on it now but is still in very good condition if anyones interested. I'll see about putting it on ebay this coming weekend and post a link in the for sale section here.

Re: KTM 125 Duke.
KTM is now for sale. Anyone interested?
I've put it on ebay at more than it cost me because similar bikes (some with higher milage) are being sold for higher prices. But I'm open to offers.
I've already been offered £2500 for it on a trade in against a Piaggio X10 - which seems like a good deal to me.
Anyway, here's a link to ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KTM-125-DUKE- ... 500wt_1156

Definitely is.edscoot wrote:I've already been offered £2500 for it on a trade in against a Piaggio X10 - which seems like a good deal to me.
Add in whatever you can get for the PCX in a private sale and you wont have to find too much more.
