Ignition Left On Reminder?
Argh. For the 2nd time in about a month I've had to do the "walk of shame" and push my PCX back to base to recharge the battery because I've left it switched on accidentally.
Does anyone know of any devices that I can buy that would give me some kind of audible warning? eg beep if "ignition on and bike not moving for 30 seconds" or "ignition on and side-stand down)?

How does that happen? You leave the keys in the ignition in the on position without idling or running - Why? I could understand some third party extra draining the battery overnight or such.

Nix the Shame!
Like iceman asked, why would you leave the key in the on position for an extended period? It's not running per say, but juice is flowing, your lights are on.
(Uh oh, I feel a song coming on, yep! It's happening ...."Your lights are on, but you're not home...your mind is not your own..."

The device you could try is a pocket. Use it to put the keys in when you leave the bike.

Um - very simply ...
... I keep forgetting to remove them. Need a reminder like my Honda car has.

When you get to your destination, stop the scoot by turning the key rather than relying on the side stand to stop the engine.TheMaverick wrote:Argh. That's what I do most of the time -- just looking for a technical solution for the occasions that I forget.

Re: Ignition Left On Reminder?
Thanks - it's something I thought about too (due to my hobby I have a lot of these kinds of things), but it's not ideal for a couple of reasons:
1. I'm still leaving keys in the bike, which means if I do it enough times someone will probably just steal it, and
2. I really don't have the space to spare - I'm frequently maxing out the under-seat, givi box, and often a pack on back as well.

Thanks - possibly my best option so far.
I just can't believe that there isn't an electronic gizmo on eBay for $30 that does what I need though.

Re: Ignition Left On Reminder?
So, you often turn the bike off by use of the side stand leaving the keys in the on position and the lights draining the battery? How come you cannot see the lights are on when you walk away?

Mostly because I ride into a space - dismount - then have my back to the bike when I walk away

Re: Ignition Left On Reminder?
Something like this might work for you, applied to the PCX instead of a car. There are PCX wiring diagrams posted somewhere on the forum if I recall.

Re: Ignition Left On Reminder?
Maverick, you are making me feel much better. I left the key in my PCX many times. I think it was because of the key placement. On my previous scooter, the key was "on top" where i could see it as i removed my helmet and gloves. I never once forgot that key. On the PCX, i shut down the engine with the red cut-off switch and glide into a parking space. Even in my garage, i would walk away from the scooter and not notice that the tail-light was on. Finally i made a decision that the first thing i would do upon arriving anywhere was to put the key in my pocket....before taking off my helmet.

Re: Ignition Left On Reminder?
That is what I do too. Use the red button to turn it off, or use the kickstand....but the next thing you do should be to reach down, take the key out, and put it in your pocket. If you do it enough times it becomes a habit.

Re: Ignition Left On Reminder?
Another idea might be as simple as a key tag like this. Would be hard to miss.

I always wondered why Daelim put a keyless ignition system on their S3 Advance models.....
