RAM Mount

Just installed a RAM Mount - Ram Mount Motorcycle Brake/Clutch Reservoir Base with 1-Inch Ball - RAM-B-309-1U

You get 6x55 mm bolts in the kit, but they are too long. Plastic spacers are included, but they tend to deform when you tighten the bolts. I bought some 6x45mm bolts, worked perfectly.

Thanks for the info! I use the RAM mounts a lot on my other bikes but wasn't sure what to use for my new PCX, so your post helped me a lot and I decided to try it. This is what I was going to use, so your mount is way better and looks nicer.

I have had a Ram mount on my 2013 for quite awhile. On the 2013 model, and possibly the 2015 (I don't know for sure), the brake reservoir cover for my 2006 Suzuki Burgman 400 fit my 2013 pcx 150 perfectly. I have one on mine and one on my wife's.

I use mine to hold my gps or my ipod or my bluetooth speaker. I'm pretty sure I could think of some other uses for one also, like to hold my cellphone when it is charging on the bike, like I did recently with my wife's phone.

Mel, do you have a picture of your mount? From your wording, it would seem that you have the RAM ball bolted to the cover of your brake reservoir.

This is what my bike looks like when We are out riding and I have my gps connected. Hopefully my cup holder and cup are not in the way of this view of the ram mount in action.

I really doubt that these things can break. They are metal and tough. I even have a stick-on ram mount on mine over on the left. I use it to hold my ipod sometimes, when the one on the brake reservoir is occupied. I had originally wanted to put my camera there but the bike vibrates too much to get any good dash cam videos.

While the metal parts are fairly indestructible, the plastic cradles do break on occasion.

A friend here in Thailand broke his - he emailed a photo and credit card info to RAM. They sent the part to my USA address and I brought it over for him on my last trip. Cost him two dollars for the postage.

Nice pictures Mel46. Can you tell me what are the pieces on the side of your scooter? They look like triangular pieces of clear plastic with a black edge on the side of the scooter near where your turning light are located. Are those air deflectors?

Those little triangle pieces are wind deflectors that give us some protection from the elements, plus they make the bike a bit more aerodynamic by sending the wind around us instead of through that area and into us. I made them for both bikes for the Winter but have found them to be great in the summer also. I have a better version in mind and will try to make a more removable set soon. I am never satisfied with just good enough. I'm an engineer.

That is exactly what I thought they were! Very nice. I work for a plastic fabrication company (we do point of purchase displays), so we fabricate with acrylic, PETG, Lexan, etc. I think I may try something similar. Would it be feasible to see a close up picture?

The wind deflectors are each a two piece set. The first thing you must do is to create a template of cardboard of the front half, which is to the middle of the turn signal, complete with all curves and grooves you will need. That also means making sure the point goes inward as it follows the curve of the body panel. After that everything is easy. Decide how far back you want the tiangle to go and make your template. There are several ways to make the pieces stay connected to the panel, but it really depends on how permanent you want them to be. My first version was held on by velcro. My second version was held on by duct tape the same color as the bike. My third version will have a track for easy off and on.
