Trouble starting new bike

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, I've had my PCX 125 for 4 days and only started it a handful of times but each time it takes 3 or 4 presses of the starter, I turn the key to the top till the engine management light comes press the starter button then nothing happens switch off back on again and maybe the fourth time it starts, any ideas before I trudge back to the dealer.

Are you waiting for the speedo to do it's thing, and the engine light to go out before, pulling in the brake (rear) then pressing the starter?

You need to give the left lever quite a hard pull.
Press and hold the starter button and increase the pull on the left brake lever till it fires, then you'll know how hard to pull it.
Always wait till the speedo needle falls back to zero before trying to start and leave the throttle closed before and during starting.

Oh, and the sidestand needs to be up.....

Thanks guys I obviously wasn't pulling on the rear brake enough as it fired immediately this morning, I had a Peugeot Speedfight before and the pull on the rear brake was minimal so need to get used to that. I knew about the side stand being up, but every little helps and it's much appreciated, cheers the noo.

Maybe the rear brake freeplay nut is too tight, preventing you from pulling the brake lever easily??

See if when you spin the back wheel it moves freely, and does not bind the second you let go to stop the wheel. If it does bind back off the freeplay nut a few turns until it does not.
