warped front rotor with dics lock

Post by Scooter-Bound22 »

Hello I have problem I accidentally left my dics] lock on and it wrapped my rotor. I olny moved the bike like 2 inches be for it locked up. I Didn't start it i was just pushing out of the garage to go for a ride when it happened. So i went ahead and ordered a new rotor and put it on today. But when I got everything on and screwed down I rolled the wheel and squeeze the brake lever but it makes a slight grinding noise after i released it. I don't know what else to do can someone please help me and tell me where to go next?

Oh no! I stopped using my disc lock after so many horror stories like this.

Is the grinding consistent, and do the brakes heat up during riding (even without use)?

I see two options:
- Your disc, brake caliper, or wheel may not be perfectly aligned any more. Loosen, tighten, and recheck.
- Your pads may have gotten damaged, check them when you loosen the caliper.

Hope that helps. :D

My rotor clipped a traffic cone at low speed, I replaced it and the found the pads were very unevenly worn, replaced them and the bike was good as new.
