oil change tutorial

Post by honkerman »

I don't know if this has been done, but as part of my blog, I decided to do an oil change tutorial when I did my 600 mile service.

If a mod can move this to the right place then, that would be most appreciated. :D

I do not wish to double post.

Mamy great tutorials already exist on this site for the '13 and now '16 models - oil, valve, panel removal, even complete how-to's for getting the PCX in pieces and engine rebuilds! (wonderful stuff).
I thought the reason for removing the oil filler cap was to allow air in to push most of the oil out - you need to remove it anyway so early is good, but you do not want any kind of vacuum slowing the process down.

That is definitely one reason for it. The oil will still drain without removing the cap though. I recall being told by a mechanic friend of mine, the guy who walked me through my first oil change in fact, that the primary reason to remove the cap first is so that you know it can be removed...as he knows of a few situations where people drained the oil without first removing the cap, then couldn't get it off.
