There's nothing like a freshly paved strip of asphalt...nice and grippy. It's especially good after being on a horrible road earlier in the day. Twice in the last week I've had a bit of a run in with a hole on Lemon street. Thankfully nothing is damaged and I stayed on the scoot and kept it upright, but it was enough to rattle my teeth.
So, when I ran into fresh road surface on the way to work, it was a wonderful surprise.

Re: Smooth surfaces
Yes, Exactly...like Butter!
New Tarmac/asphalt is a delight rolling on roller skates
pure joy! However, I avoid that buttery road whilst riding a motor bike/scoot/cycle. There are oils in the mix. It's far better to let the road get weathered in and traveled a bit by four wheel vehicles, then take a go at it. Of course if it's the only way you can get to your destination, then roll on with caution keeping that buttery road in mind.
I like your bloggin BTW, you have a way with words
Fun Stuff!
But...But...Gosh! There ain't nothing better than riding buttery smooth curvy roads on a fall day (leaves just changing color)....just sayin'

Re: Smooth surfaces
This was fresh blacktop and still warm and sticky. I had to wait for the flagger to let me go on it. It hadn't had time for oil to pool on top. It was beautiful.

That's a beautiful piece of roadmaking, why can't all roads look like that?

A question for the ages...JohnL wrote:That's a beautiful piece of roadmaking, why can't all roads look like that?
I added a couple pics to the story. One shows the scars of previous road "repairs". The other shows "the abyss" by the light of day.
