AH HA... LDV school bus, only in recent years have these become popular stateside. A van with the roof cut out and a topper so's one can stand up meets the service industry needs quite well. We Americans were slow to get with it mostly just used them for ambulance and swat teams Everything from carpet cleaners to locksmiths are driving them now from all the American auto makers.

True. A buell isnt total pile of excrement like a Ducati. I had the use of two and owned one. My wife had two and nearly gave up riding again.

Seriously I was actually happy when my wife's broke down. At least I knew I wasn't waiting for it to break down. I can still remember waiting by the road for 6hrs waiting for the recovery vehicle for my wife's shitbox 900 monster. I just wanted to push it into a field and burn it.

lovely, let me forward that to the dealership maybe they can come down even more I did start this off at the Ducati store GN, you are justified in your criticism to compare. I was prepared to finance a pricey bike and even the wife wasn't giving me any crap about it since my truck and PCX have no leans. But darn it if they didn't have me leaning so far down to grasp the grips it was ridiculous. It was just by chance that a 2002 Buell was brought in trade and was sitting there on the floor. Immediately it was all I wanted as a second bike. You sit fairly upright, rumble like a Harley and still look like a sport bike. It could have had a 250cc engine, I wouldn't have cared. I heard a salesman sigh but it just beckons me. If you don't love it how would you care for it.

Shay hauls stuff, Shonky made me use pockets.
Shay doesn't make small children wrench and babies cry at Jewel, Shonky does.
Shay goes to the park (I do so love the park) Shonky will never see wildlife or go 15mph
The 16 year old at the MacDonalds drive through won't shut up and give me my hamburger and the neighbors never cam running out to help unload Shay... heck is that about.
Shay is like a breath of fresh air on a bright sunny day with the smell of daffodils coming from the tail pipe, Shonky is like a fire breathing Dragon straight for HELL.

I actually thought the rear brake wasn't working, it seemed to do nothing... then I realized the tire was skidding. Man that front brake better work good because Shonky was born to run.

Well I got the hell off the beasty before she basted off and left me sitting in the street. NOW I'm doing what I do best... take things apart What a pleasure it is to work on American made, this must be the reason people still buy Harleys. You don't even need a service manual my tools fit as a well as my hands.

Yep Shonky might be ugly when she's naked with her night vision goggles, fuel in the frame and oil in the swing arm and there's no jacking up a bike without a frame under it but I'm going to strap her to the ceiling and find some way to get both wheels of the ground.

No worries WN, you see one you seen them all. Temps are slipping down into the 60's but I will be back out soon as there are many good days to ride scooter yet.

This is a trophy bike, the kind you always wanted but couldn't have then you got too old so you just get it anyway and look at it. But there is talk of a drag strip one might go with some of the men in the hood who have been curiously lingering and perhaps one could get it in a straight line really, really fast for a few seconds and then say you done it because this one has a need to know just how fast. I see a possibility... with extra shorts of course and some better gear.

Well I had to look it up but the XB V-twin racing engine which is what we have here was in fact made in America. The entire design of the chassis certainly was born out of Wisconsin USA. Everything I've pulled off of it and even its electronics are not of that 'made in Japan' look or feel. This may well be one of the last true American manufacturing stories. I think that was Eric Buell's promise but it must have been hard to hold the doors open in the brave new world of manufacturing costs. The man did try you have to give him that.
