"Not keen on the jag you've put on the bonnet though. That'll cause some damage if you hit a pedestrian>"

Not to worry. That's only when parked; when driving, he swathes the Jag figurine with pillows--goose-down, I believe. That setup gently caresses any wayward walkers or scooterists--until they keep rolling and smack the windshield like a bug, that is.

They sold them that way in 2002 here in the states. you could request a flat emblem, but it wasn't stock here. I like the leaper though. Haven't skewered a pedestrian with it yet...been trying though.

On the way home yesterday, riding the offside lane due to parked vehicles and being in the correct lane to go forwards (nearside was a turn-left) I saw a car slowly pulling out from the left side and was not sure what they were going to do i.e. looked like they were crossing lanes into my space so gave a quick 'honk' with the horn - they stopped but the car behind them didn't. At the very least one of more cars have squished bumpers but there may be more damage.
Good thing is there are random police checks on vehicles for no insurance/tax and other things, but in the past 2 weeks, besides all the morons or nasty bits of work behind the wheel I've had an ambulance not give way at a mini-roundabout and pull out straight in front of me (no lights, no sirens, so they should stop and give way obey the rules of the road like and other vehicle), several police cars stopped in the cycle only space at lights, police parked badly outside fast-food outlets, a lorry parked on double yellow lines with the rear(!) of their lorry just a few meters from a round-about, and on my way in this morning a double-decker bus doing a U-turn in/on a mini-roundabout as they could not be bothered to drive to a safe place to reverse and turn-around.

In surprised at that with your liability laws. Mine just had a flat emblem, at the top of the grill if I remember. Miss mine

Watched a video of road rage in Germany - driver knocked over a scooter rider who insulted him....then drove on.
Witnessed by a pair on a motorcycle. Passenger got off to help the scooter rider, motorcyclist sped after and confronted the car driver in a parking lot a few blocks later.
Called the police on him.
A viewer asked,"Weren't you aftraid he'd pull a gun on you when you confronted him?!"
German bike rider replied,"No, I wasn't. This isn't America!"

Not sure what you're thinking. PA liability laws aren't all that bad...and I only pay $56 a month for insurance on the Jag. From where I sit, seems you Brits pay a ton more. Not saying I know all that much on the topic as far as it applies to the UK, just what I've picked up here and there. Wondering if your perception of US liability codes is akin to other stereotypes of Americans held in the UK...
