I was breaking, maybe too much on front break. I'm fine, only one big bruise on my arse. Scooter fine, few scratches only. I did make it to work that day, so no big problems. Thinking about changing tyres now. I think I managed to escape without injures as I was holding to the bike to it stopped.

Sorry for your fall dude. Very glad you are ok. . But one thing I observed, you were riding right on the oil trail in the center of the lane. Best suggestion when riding in the rain especially, ride in one wheel rut or the other, not on the center hump.

There was far too small a gap to the vehicle in front in this video.
This accident would probably not have happenned on a scooter fitted with ABS ridden at a safe following distance.

It could have been wheel lock but how was the distance too small? My intention was only to slow down because he was breaking, I did't press the breaks hard. It was definitely my fault.

The crash brings back so many bad memories. How fast were you going? It didn’t look like you were moving all that fast. Rain is not good when it comes to riding on two wheels as it is, but oil and fuel on the road make it even worse. It did look like you had squeezed the front brake too hard. I would have to say that you were very lucky. At least you could ride the scooter away and only had minor bruises. Any crash in which you can ride the bike away from the crash is a good crash, if there is such a thing.

I was doing no more than 40 mph. It was definitely my fault, no doubt about it. I know I was very lucky.
Funny think is that I was avoiding A406 on wet days before, it was my first time on wet day there, and it was last never again on wet day dual carriage way.

how was the distance too small?

Following distance is measured in seconds.
The absolute minimum is two seconds, three is better, four is ideal.
In wet conditions on a non-ABS scooter I would suggest four seconds as a minimum at speeds over 30mph.
When the vehicle in front passes a fixed point, manhole cover, road marking, lampost etc, count to yourself one thousand and one, one thousand and two etc, and you should still not have reached the fixed point.
Get in the habit of doing this till you establish what a safe following distance should look like.
In the video you are less than one second behind the vehicle in front, this is far too close.
The further behind you are the more time you have to react and you can also read the road further ahead increasing your thinking time even more.
Its all about anticipation, more time to think and see what's going on means you're safer.

Just watched the video in fullscreen on a bigger monitor, it looks like there's a discolouration down the centre of the lane which could be oil or diesel.
You need to stay off such discoloured areas.

Problem with opening the gap on a busy, wet road like this....you fall back to a sfer following distance - and cars will fill it in!

Yea your follow distance was around 2 seconds, which is ok on dry urban streets but not on wet highways.

Dry and under 40mph - 2 seconds
Wet - add 1 second to your follow distance
Above 40mph - add 1 second to your follow distance

Sucks though, glad you're not too hurt and wearing proper riding gear. Brought back memories of how I went down trying to brake too hard on wet pavement. Twice, I'm embarrassed to say. Both times on my old Yamaha BWS. Live and learn. My next bike will have ABS.

After my first crash, I stopped caring if cars take up that space forcing me to form a new buffer. Better safe than sorry. The second time was me trying to stop at a red light too quickly so I didn't leave my wife following me behind. Should have ran the yellow light.
