What size engine is in my Honda Forza 300?
People ask What size engine is in my Honda Forza 300?
Do you lie and tell them a 300? Or tell the truth 279 cc? Or tell them a 250 because you think they might understand what a 250cc can do?
I want them to understand it is not a weak little 49cc machine. That it is highway capable.
Or do you just tell them to piss off and go away!

I usually say it's a 300 to the average person...
To the biker types of techy types I say it's only 279cc

Probably best to tell them to piss off, for many reasons. Not theirs, yours. Let's not go there as you would say, if you could.

+1^
That's what I tell them too. When they ask me HOW FAST will it go, I tell them, "It'll do 80..... but I won't!"

Cheers!

Like most of the ladies say:
Size doesn't matter. It's what you can do with it.

Such a difficult problem.dasshreddar wrote:I usually say it's a 300 to the average person...

"It's actually 280cc, pretty good up to 85mph and gets over 60mpg" doesn't work?
Or "Bigger and fatter than a Suzuki Burgman, thirstier and with less range than a PCX".
Choose one and memorise it.

The clue is in the thread title.
The Forza engine size is 300.
The cubic capacity is 279cc.

Even if someone wasn't bike literate, I'd expect them to know that something the size of a Forza is not powered by a dinky little 49cc motor.

BMW was the worst offender that I know of. Their F650GS was actually a detuned 798cc parallel-twin, not a 650cc at all. Very confusing.gn2 wrote:The clue is in the thread title.

Tell Honda I want the missing 21cc put on my Forza or I will sue for false advertising. Ha Ha

Most people have not got a clue that the Forza even has a gas motor. Hey, I don't see a motor and I ride the thing.dkazzed wrote:Even if someone wasn't bike literate, I'd expect them to know that something the size of a Forza is not powered by a dinky little 49cc motor.

If you do that Honda may get mad and come after us PCX150'ers for more $$$ when they realize they've been giving us an extra 3 cc's for freedavenowherejones wrote:Tell Honda I want the missing 21cc put on my Forza or I will sue for false advertising. Ha Ha

Re: What size engine is in my Honda Forza 300?
Usually (PCX 150 is one exception) engine sizes are smaller than the what is included in a bike's moniker.
Only time I care at all about that is when adding a new bike to my insurance policy and the actual, smaller displacement may move the bike to a cheaper insurance bracket.

2013 PCX 150 [now an ex-bike, soon to be consigned to the bottom line of the sig]
2013 Silver Wing ABS (Black)
1971 BMW R75/5 (White)
Too many ex-bikes to list, and, besides, who really cares what we used to own?

Re: What size engine is in my Honda Forza 300?
It's down to many countries discriminating bikes by engine size.
The rules in the UK are based on
less than 50cc
less than 125cc
less than 250cc
and above
So an engine which is 50cc actually falls under 125 legislation and requires a license.

British Columbia, Canada uses less than 50, less than 400 and ???beegmouse wrote:It's down to many countries discriminating bikes by engine size.

The insurance on my DR650 is double the insurance on the Forza 300.
I might sell the 650. Not sure yet. $700 a year hurts. $374 for the Forza still hurts because it gives me almost no coverage for anything. Just a stupid government monopoly tax.
