New pads and discs strikes again!

As my Forza warranty expires in Jan I wanted to get it serviced and brakes examined once again and sure enough at 7k miles it needs new discs and pads again! These are the replacements from the last visit at 3k!

So what happens after the next 3k? My dealer will take it up with Honda and will advise. It's a known problems and my dealership have completed similar fixes on several other Forzas here.

A bit of a bummer which spoils an otherwise excellent scooter.

Just curious, I don't have a Forza but what year is yours? Is this common across the globe on a particular Forza year? Shame it's happening to you

Just bad caliper design and placement, not unknown on other Hondas.

Wear of the brake pads is normal but not to disks.
I believe that disks are perhaps a material failure if we are talking about the same or similar production dates.

I have my disks on my SH 300 for 51.000 kms and only the front i use more is near the wear limit.
I have allready bought an excellent <<BRAKING>> disk and i will change it.
Thiis is the disk i bought :


About braking pads i use EBC HH SINTERED.

As you are going out of the warranty period the above disks and brake pads are an excellent solution in my opinion.

I find that with my relaxed riding style I barely even use the brakes at all. I coast to a stop and I stay out of cities as much as possible.

I haven't really looked at the Forza brakes that much.

I had a Yamaha BWS that was hard on brakes. The pads were only about the size of a dollar coin (loonie in Canada) The 49cc two stroke had almost no compression braking.

I have tried sintered pads a few times but they never really bedded in one the old discs. They were noisy. Maybe I should have grabbed the brake lever harder?

It's price is 110 euros the new EBC HH SINTERED brake pads included.

I find the engine braking strong enough and rarely need to use the brakes.

Unfortunately my commute is crap and I do have to emergency stop once a month. I have warped two front discs. The brakes are fantastic in terms of stopping power. But it's also their downfall.

To get the same on a full sized bike you would need two discs, but tiny wheels give the scoot a mechanical advantage so they only give 1 disc which gets hotter.

Small wheels make brakes wear quicker. They spin more for the same distance, Apply more torque when stopping.

No such problem on my 2014 MY Forza. I have nearly 12,000 Km on the bike and have only had to replace the original tyres at about 7,000 Km. The replacement Pirelli tyres seem to be lasting much better. No other problems.

I thought for sure I had a sticking rear caliper as the rear wheel is not much of a spinner and the disc gets really hot . I think the heat is more of a design issue and proximity to the exhaust. I too tend to use engine compression rather than brakes but have had only one emergency stop. Got to say I love the braking system it is better than any bike I've had or ridden.

I've just hit 10k

and the rear pads are gone. That sound normal? They are easy to replace and only cost a tenner so I'm not worried there.

More disturbing to me is that the front disc has warped again. twice in 10k miles.

Does anyone make floating rotors for the Forza? I can't find any. Does the ABS rotor make it impossible?

We have installed the same disk (BRAKING) on SH 300/C ABS and it's an excellent upgrade.
Go for it.
For sure better than OEM.

We also use EBC HH SINTERED brake pads, they are excellent too.

I was having trouble seeing my rear pads so I ordered new ones. I took the muffler off, heat shield off and then the calliper. The reason I could not see the pad was that there was no pad. It was worn right to the metal. I put in the new pads. Sometime I will have to measure the disk thickness.

I think part of the problem is that the rear brake is right next to the catalytic converter in the muffler and gets too hot.

It is written on the disk.
Examine it carefully and you will see it.

If the disk is damaged and there are deep scratches on it unfortunatelly yes you must change it if you don't want the brake pads to last less kms but if you do not care about this you can keep it untill it reaches the min thickness.

How less thw pads will last can not be calculated because it depends on the deepnes of the scratches.

So how do get Honda to admit the brake design is defective?

The Americans could probably get a class action lawsuit going. The Canadian government wouldn't know a motorcycle if they got run over by one. I think Japan would never admit they made a mistake. The UK is usually more worried about who is sleeping with whom in the government???

Does anyone know how many Forza's have been sold. In Canada I suspect very low numbers. I have never seen another one on the road.

I might take the heat shield off and coat it with some silver heat shielding tape.
