UK Outside Cover Question for New Owner...

Post by wolfitman »

Morning!

I'm about to go and order a PCX for my daily commute and I plan to add the Honda full screen and top box as I can get a decent deal if I add both.

I'll be keeping it outside and will need a good quality cover.....any suggestions?

I'm not sure which to buy with the higher front screen and top box fitted but I would guess that somebody here from the UK has already solved this problem?

Thanks!

Hi and welcome.
Covers are a nuisance.
When you go to take it off if the cover is wet, you get wet hands.
Then you have to work out where you're going to store the cover while its not in use and possibly dripping wet.
Then there's wind.
Adding a cover massively increases the chances of your scooter being blown over in high winds.
Plus when the cover flaps against the bodywork it can mark the screen and rub paint off.
Then when you ride home in the wet and the scooter is filthy the cover gets filthy off the scooter and do you really want to throw a cover over a wet scooter trapping moisture inside?
All things considered ny opinion is that covers are a total p.i.t.a. and can do more harm than good.
I stopped using them years ago.
Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong

I've got an Oxford cover that is designed to have a topbox fitted, does the job pretty well, my bike sits outside too. A cover is not just for weather protection, opportunist theives are less likely to choose a bike they can't see.
The warning about wind is worth heeding. My PCX blew over a couple of months ago, I now take the cover off if any strong winds are forecast. On a positive note the bike escaped with only a couple of scratches so a good advertisment for Honda build quality.
