dumbest thing ever...
What's the dumbest thing you ever did or saw on a bike?
I use a front fork lift on the scooter with the center stand down This action lifts and rocks forward, the same effect as if you were coming off the 'C' stand whilst seated... only I wasn't Fortunately I was able to toss myself between the bike and the ground - NEVER DO IT!

The dumbest thing I've seen are these videos when guys ride their bikes up ramps to load in pickup trucks. I honestly believe there are more fails then successful loads.

that's too funny. My Crocs were soooo comfy when I owned my SH150i. I might look like a meathead but at least my toes weren't sweating! lol

when I bought my Forza the dealer recommended I just ride it up the ramp! I told him NO! because like you said the room for epic fail is too great.homie wrote:The dumbest thing I've seen are these videos when guys ride their bikes up ramps to load in pickup trucks. Re: dumbest thing ever...
Speaking of side and center stands...I had a Yamaha XS400 motorcycle, which I always left standing on it's side stand. Went out to the garage one day for a ride and found the bike had fallen over on it's right side! What had happened was that the rear tire went flat, which lowered the rear of the bike enough so that it leaned over far enough to the right to fall over! I now try always to leave my Forza & Elite250 on the center stand just in case the same thing could happen.homie wrote:What's the dumbest thing you ever did or saw on a bike?

Re: dumbest thing ever...
How about pulling over, dropping the side stand into a drain grate oO
I haven't done that yet but it's not unheard of.

Hey I wrote about going 60 km down a 4000 ft elevation at 120 kmph past 100,000 pound trucks with a flat rear Forza tire and the story disappeared.

Re: dumbest thing ever...
Sure scared me looking at it the next day. I am going on the same road tomorrow if it is not snowing.
Re: dumbest thing ever...
I saw a kid on a cb125r with a crazy loud exhaust try and ride away from a supermarket..
He had forgotten to unchain the back wheel and lamp post.
3 high revving attempts later
Lots of noise, a horrible clutch smell and then he realised.
I would have said something, but I was in a car in traffic, and I'm a horrible person.
For my own sins.
Filled up a CB450DX, pushed it forward to let the guy behind me use the pump while I put my gear on.
Must have knocked the side stand during the move as it collapsed on me, melted my over trousers and made a mess of the paintwork.

Re: dumbest thing ever...
Yesterday I saw a couple of bikers riding those 'Sport' bikes....or whatever their PROPER name is now. To me that are still rice rockets, but use whatever name you wish. They each had on a helmet, because it is the law, but shorts, tee shirts, and low top tennis shoes. They seemed to be playing tag in traffic, zooming in and out between cars at higher than acceptable speeds for the traffic conditions. They left the rest of the traffic in their dust. I don't know if anything happened to them, because I turned off, but I can imagine how bad it would have been if they had lost control.

Re: dumbest thing ever...
Before moving to Thailand, I would have said multiple people on a scooter.
However, now seeing three to five people on a scooter, including kids standing up and people holding new born babies is common place. All with no helmets.
Yesterday I saw a women riding with two kids about 3-4 years old, one in front of her and one behind. She had to ride the scooter with one hand as the other was behind her back to stop the child behind her from falling off.
