Winter gloves

I nearly froze my hands off on the way to work this morning. It was only 35 degrees too... Anyone have glove recommendations?

Honda gave me them free when i bought my PCX. Theyve got a little wiper down the thumb for when it rains too.

A wiper? That's awesome. I was stuck in the rain yesterday, and something like that to squeegee the drops off would have been amazing.

their pretty warm, but the cold still does get in after a while though. But there much much warmer than the leather gloves that i have, that are very similiar to these:

I saw some similar to the 2nd gloves at the local motorcycle store, I'll go check if they were reasonably priced tomorrow. I'm more concerned about warmth than squeegee, so I'll see if I can find a leather pair.

I wonder if GN2 will create an account here and start talking about his lobster claws.

Lol apparently they're quite warm (and ugly). I bought some gloves and so far they are freaking warm and have good reviews from the website. I have yet to test them out completely though because it's still been in the 80's and 90's here and barely getting into the 50's at night. The true test will come tomorrow night after work. High today was 85 and the high tomorrow is supposed to drop to 63. Should be sufficiently chilly enough to wear my gloves and new leather jacket :-) Also got some pants to go over my jeans. For me I use a pair of dainese scout gloves,huge money but riding everyday it was money well spent and will last lots of years.....

Think you might have misunderstood. The second pair are the summer gloves. The first pair with the squeegee are the warm ones.

I wear a pair of Speed and Strength "Hell and Back" gloves. They are really comfortable, have some armor and they're waterproof, but probably not intended for cold weather. I bought them for $20 on closeout and wish I'd bought two pairs. My husband has a pair of Joe Rocket gloves that he likes. Much warmer, but the grip isn't as good with the Thinsulate insulation. He rode to work yesterday in 31 degree weather, and was comfortable with the gloves and two extra layers under his riding jacket (long underwear, regular shirt & fleece jacket). The riding jacket has a liner zipped in too.

maddie - have you considered installing heated grips? I like the fact that I can use any gloves I want and still have warm hands. They cost about $30 for the heating elements that will go under your existing grips. I had them on my last bike, and they were a god send. Will be installing them on my pcx once my hands start freezing. Until then, I don't think I will be motivated enough to do it =]

I have them on my other bike, and they're great for shorter rides. But my current commute is more than 30 minutes at speed. My experience with heated grips is that with longer rides, the outside of your hands will still be too damn cold (even hurting), even if the rest is warm enough.

Hmm I never really had that issue. I used them in 40 degree weather in prescott AZ winters. Always kept my entire hand nice and toasty. This was also on my sv650 at freeway speeds. The grips had 2 settings... the low I used below 40 mph and the high would be WAY too hot unless going over 40mph. The PCX barely goes 60, so I think this will work well for me. you could always use them in addition to some winter gloves. Couldn't hurt =]

I only speak in my personal experience.. They worked great for me... Might be worth looking into.

Where did you find heated grips for $30!? That sounds like it'd fit the bill perfectly, since I have some summer gloves that might take the bite off just enough. I could always get winter gloves AND heated grips. That'd be really warm.

Haha! Yep! It would only snow maybe for 2 weeks out of the winter... other than that it barely ever got below freeaing during the day. But at night... we saw single digits... but Iusually will not ride if the temp is under 40, unless I am stuck and have no choice.

I believe I got the grips from newenough.com, but I'm currently at work so will have to verify sometime tomorrow. These are just the heating elements... not the entire grip. You take off the stock grip, instal the heating element to the bare handlebar, and re-instal the stock grip over the heating element. I'm positive I paid 30-something for them and they were great... now I'm back in LA, so it barely ever gets below freezing ever, so I'm going to hold off for a bit and see if my hands need them in our mild winters. =)

Thanks for the links. I didn't realize there were so many options; it's overwhelming. I think I'll just ask for some for Christmas and let my wife do the footwork and figure out which are best.
