Good thing you didn't have two and they weren't on fire...you would have gone out with both barrels blazing.

Re: Made a delivery!
Let's see .....
Ideally, a full drum at my current MPG would give me over 6,000 mile range.
But, figure 50 gallons of gas (in a 55 gal drum), + drum weight, & we're probably looking at a 330 lb spare tank!
(I think I'm gonna need some stiffer rear springs!)
Fuel efficiency would be lowest with a full tank, then improve as it emptied. So .... maybe a "realistic" 4,000 mile range?
I mean, as "realistic" as it gets, proposing to lug around a 55 gal drum of gasoline ....

Re: Made a delivery!
Look at the bright side. You would be able to go all the way across the USA on a single tank of gas...or barrel, but let's not argue about that....you would be popular across the world because you figured out how to only fill up once a year! :-)
On another note, weren't you a bit top heavy? What about wind resistance? I bet you had a barrel of fun with that...hmmm...barrel.

Re: Made a delivery!
The barrel was empty, so weight wasn't a problem (I'm guessing around 30#, +/- ?)Mel46 wrote:... On another note, weren't you a bit top heavy? What about wind resistance? ...
But yeah, wind resistance dropped my OBD MPG from 129 to 125 in just the 5 mile trip. And buffeting from cross-winds was a definite handling issue with the empty barrel!
Hrmm, I'd have to learn to turn with the front wheel a few feet off the ground ....you you wrote:You'd save on front tyre wear

Didn't I see this done in a Bond film?GatorGreg wrote:Cool - looks like we can use our PCX's for anti-submarine warfare

Could be useful for tailgaters, too ....

Poppin Wheel-ezz!
Eiron "Made a Delivery" "just for fun" and I think itsa Gas!
I'm reading all the responses and I'm glad folks are having fun. See what you did!!
Hmm oddly, yes oddly, 2yous hasn't made mention of your "hi-viz" orange straps. But he did use his favorite word "awesome" so he surely was referring to those straps
Christmas is coming we won't forget You... you you. Aye he so loves a Bright Christmas

Re: Made a delivery!
LOL, I've got the Honda OEM "Tall" windscreen on the bike, & it comes with new mirror mounts that locate the mirrors farther outboard. I could see past the barrel on the sides, but the barrel was too tall to see directly behind me.WhiteNoise wrote:P.S. Eiron, get some mirror extenders! Did anyone think of that? Mel? Ah Geez
