Rip off Britain!

Ive been looking for a new coil as mine does not seem to like the wet weather.
After a few hours browsing around i found ordering from outside the UK is yet again by far the cheapest option

Does anyone know who is resposible for the price differences? is it honda uk? The tax man? probably both but £14 compared to Nearly £60(with postage) is a mahoosive difference that must be going in someones pocket!

UK Honda bike part prices are set by Honda.
The tax is the same as for any other product

As a dispassionate observer from across the sea, it seems that prices on many things in the UK are vastly inflated compared to goods and services on this side of the pond.

Have you tried sealing your coil from the damp. Might be cheaper again.

Let us know because I'm not too sure too many people have had the same problem tbh

What makes you sure its the coil, can you describe the symptoms...?

Not sure , but I think that coil has a tower for a connection to the ignition wire terminal. Doubtful its your coil. My guess its the ignition wire that is weathered and shot and leaking to ground somewhere .The moisture facilitates the ground path.Dont know if they are purchased separately or as a set.If possible, I would try the wire first, but a set (both) probably not be that much difference ???

Long story cut short(ish) but i broke down a few months ago the engine just cut out. When trying to start again the engine turned but no igniton. Anyways i got dropped off with my bike at a local mechanic and he replaced my coil with what apears to be a 2nd had one. I have since had issues with the speedometer stopping working and i repaired the wire then rewrapped the rear loom speedo issue sorted. A few weeks later i got caught out in a small downpour after a few miles it cut out again miles away from home. I nearly ran the battery flat trying to start it so decided to push it 3 miles to a 24hr asda to buy some jump leads and some wd40 or simular to spray the loom area(i suspected i had not wrapped it correctly) . Without using the wd40 or leads the bike fired up i managed to get home although it nearly stalled a few times. The day after i stripped the wires down again and rewrapped thoroughly using self amalgamating tape then got the hose pipe out and give suspect areas a spray and hey ho it wouldnt fire up. I left the scoot to dry then it started fine then i used a water pistol to diagnose where the water was getting to. Turns out to be the coil the mechanic replaced or it coild be the ignition wire but after a good soaking of wd40 ive had no issues even in the rain. Im working a lot and rely on it for my commute so will strip down and inspect on my next day off....will keep u posted
