Theoretical muffler question!
What would happen if I took off the muffler and didn't replace it with anything? Would that mess up the engine with back pressure? Just curious!
Re: Theoretical muffler question!
If you lived in my street you would likely get kicked in the nuts.
Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong

gn2 nails it again. Not only would it screw up a balanced system but also your relationship with the rest of the human race within earshot!
RTFM!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Theoretical muffler question!
It makes ploppy farty sounds and is quite terrible. Only slightly better with just a header pipe.

Re: Theoretical muffler question!
Definitely a bad idea. With a molassi exhaust without the baffle I've had people give me dirty looks and even be pretty annoyed about it

Re: Theoretical muffler question!
I dare not take the baffle off my Realize exhaust. As it is it probably annoys other road users less than me, but it's great car repellent after all.

I keep it loud not to annoy people but has helped me appear out to motorists better. Have had less people not take a second look or look up from their stupid phones and not pull out of a parking lot or from a stop sign and almost take me out.. I've gotten very good at blip ping the throttle when I'm going up to situations like these lol

Round these parts anyone who thinks it's cool to wake babies from their slumber gets their exhaust filled with gap filler for their troubles. Bikes or cars. Upset young mothers at your peril.
RTFM!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's the same demographic most likely to T-bone or rear-end you, too... "Oh, I didn't see (or hear) you there..." Is that momist?Robert R wrote:Upset young mothers at your peril.

Re: Theoretical muffler question!
Thanks for all the input! My original question was focused on any possible performance issues or potential engine problems!
