Accident report

This happened to a fellow maxi scoot rider in Florida quite recently.
In a one vehicle accident, on an unfamiliar road, at night - speed @ 45-50mph, riding a new Yamaha Majesty.
We are awaiting news of yesterday's scheduled amputation of a leg of the rider.
Prayers on his behalf are welcomed.

Please slow down when riding in reduced visibility on unfamiliar roads.

I can feel it. I'm recovering at home from a sport accident with ten new titanium screws and a plate in my right leg - and the thijg I miss the most is riding my bikes.
Terrible news. I'm not religious so not particularly good at praying, but all my best wishes to him.

The thing about prayer is that it doesn't care what your religious viewpoint is. It works if enough people ask. He has my prayers.

Terrible news.. Although all too many times I read about PCX owners pushing the envelope doing 65 70 mph and beyond . No one ever seems to think about the unknowns and road hazards ie a tree branch on a curve doing 65 is undoubtedly a trip to the ER or morgue, or some anti freeze or an oil slick or transmission fluid in the wrong place when you need to brake ..The PCX just does not have enough mass or tire footprint to overcome even the smallest of road abnormalities. I just hope when we all gas it up to 65 and 70 we think more about those hazards and always have an escape plan in mind, and our health insurance is paid up !

It is the same on a Forza or any other motorcycle for that matter. Enjoy life for we know not when it ends.

I'd never consider going anywhere near full throttle speed without full and proper gear - minimum kevlar jeans (hood as they have the most coverage) and knee/hip protection or good thick leathers and boots. Just not worse the risk for the sake of £200-300.

Sad to hear, thoughts and prayers to the rider.

No word on whether the rider was wearing gear or not. Full gear only reduces the severity of injury or risk of death but does not eliminate it.

Full and proper gear can mean you walk away with bruises (although the chance of a break is there), poor gear means cuts, skin grafts, etc. Not relating this directly with the poor sole who lost a limb, just those that want to push the PCX to it's limits - a bit crazy on a scooter without ABS and small whiles and small contact area with the road. You want to go fast, best get a good motorbike with proper brakes, large wheels and mass.

Surgery successful so far.
Starting rehab and physical therapy soon.

I can attest to the fact that full gear makes a world of difference. As for pushing the PCX to 70 - 75 mph, we only have the bikes set up for that for when we are on the freeways, when we think we are going to be run over by other drivers, and then only until we can find an exit.
