Re: Variator Drive face and pulley
Yes. I asked that same question, and I am betting many others did too. When I purchased my NCY variator and drive face it was advertised for the 125.

Mel and I have the same kit and it's working flawlessly on a 2015 PCX150
you can get the 13g rollers on Amazon for half that price though

Oh sorry I forget about shipping charges because I'm a prime member. There must have been a dozen empty Amazon boxes at the curb today so prime is the only why I know to beat their shipping charges, Like Costco membership well worth it in the long runmrgigabyte wrote:Homie when you add shipping you only saved 4 centshomie wrote:Mel and I have the same kit and it's working flawlessly on a 2015 PCX150

Re: Variator Drive face and pulley
Ok, so I ordered the variator tool off amazon a month ago. It was too big and did not fit.
Then I got a smaller tool. It still did not fit. I don't have an angle grinder to make the pins smaller.
I'm thinking of copying others on here and using an impacr wrench. Is a electrical impact wrench strong enough to loosen the variator bolt?

I'm guessing by "variator tool" you mean the Vise-Grips-style of clutch holding tool? (I'm not sure if that's what you mean.)
I made my own clutch holding tool based on the tool used in this video. (see the tool just after the 5:00 mark) I used the scrapped linkage from an overhead garage door, but really any two pieces of scrap steel would work. For the pins I think I used 1/4-20 bolts.

Re: Variator Drive face and pulley
You don't have to use the pins to hold the assembly by putting the pins IN the holes. If you can make sure the tool does not slip, you can put the pins between the fins. If it slips you will end up breaking the fins, but if you secure it in place by putting it in position with the handle of the clutch holding tool on the cement and then turning the unit with the 22 mm socket until there is tension, you should be able to break the nut loose with a breaker bar on your ratchet. I have taken mine apart multiple times. It would be nice to have help, but there isn't a lot of room for multiple hands. The biggest problem is keeping the clutch holding tool in place. Once you solve that problem the rest is easy.

Re: Variator Drive face and pulley
I too am hopping on this bandwagon. I have to replace the clutch bearing, so I may as well replace the rollers which are flat, and both drive faces which are showing signs of wear. Since the inner drive face is inseparable from the variator, I've ordered all three of what Mel and Homie have, along with the inner driven face for the clutch bearing fix. It's needed it for a bit, but it's been little more than an irritating noise up to this point and too hot to work outside. Now that it's cooling off, it's time to do the needful thing.

Re: Variator Drive face and pulley
So we got a nice day today and I made the changeover this morning. And I learned two things: one listen to Mel.....I inserted my own brain in the equation, and ordered the 12g thinking I wanted a bit more acceleration because that is my priority and I got it, but the engine races too much for me, in comparison with a 13 G DR pulley sliders I had in the stock variator before this. This may be a function of the Mellosi pipe that I have on it too.So it's off to order the 13 G NCY rollers and replace them next week. I also have the vice grips that grasp the vanes, however I'm not comfortable with that, once you tighten it back down. so the weekend project is a grind the pins down on my vice grips so if fits in the holes of the variator. More after I make the roller change.

Re: Variator Drive face and pulley
This is written in stone now... I went down the same road initially. 13g with that NCY kit is perfectly, perfect! Works great on 150 and 125cc. The next guy who ask we must insist so all these 12 gram rollers are not going to the garbage

Re: Variator Drive face and pulley
Another update. After doing a 40 mile run earlier tonight with the 12 g rollers, I feel better about them. I do have amazing take off and great top end -almost 72 mph. It's not as loud as I thought because my initial impression was inside a condo garage and not out on the open road , even on 0-20 accel it's manageable. However I'm still gonna change to the 13 G rollers because the engine does seem to be running in a higher RPM band that I'm comfortable with.

Hey Glen, can you post the speed off the speedometer too, please?
We all have one of those for apples to apples comparison.
