Up here we have a coverage known as specified perils
theft and fire-liability- no collision -you crash you fix
quite a bit cheaper and you take responsibility for your own actions
if you are paying cash this might be an option

I think those were bonus bucks which you pay for and redeem for some accessories
again like my buddy said Honda won't haggle- as for insurance mine is with a provincial corporation
no help to you in the USA -just use the keywords specified perils and see what is offered
you guys down stateside have lots of options with insurance companies

I don't think Honda has changed the price of the PCX in years. The price of the bike itself is $3499. When I purchased mine, counting tax, tag, title, registration and whatever other bull@#%& they could add, it still ended up costing $4000 OTD.

Heh News, I'm not sure how those Bonus Bucks work, I never bought either of my PCX's with that incentive (or any incentive offer) from Honda. My thinking is, it comes off the $3499, making the scoot $3299 plus plus plus whatever fees, taxes, etc.

By all means try to bargain. In fact, become an expert at that. You'll save plenty during your lifetime by just speaking up. Always worth a shot to try. All they can say is no....or work with you. YES!
They may clip another 100.00 or ? off. Never know without trying I sound like a parent now, don't I? Ah well, it is what it is

I wish I got offered 4000 otd. I went into a place and they offered 4,900 otd. I wonder if it's because I'm in Cali because the cost of living is higher out here but seeing other ppls deals on here makes me sad bc the dealers don't go anywhere near those prices. Granted I enquired about the brand new 2017, but still!

Mine was the equivalent of $3484.58 OTR (includes all taxes and registration) mind you it is only a 125 version, but for 25 extra cc's shouldnt be that much

@white noise, thanks a lot for the advice. I'm doing my best at becoming somewhat of an expert on this but unfortunately, I need to pick one up soon because my wife and I both have jobs with conflict g schedules and only one car to share. I put my city on my profile. I appreciate your kindness!

Several suggestions:

-Look online for a leftover prior year model. Dealer may have more incentive to deal on these.

-Call or email each local dealer with a bike in stock that you want. Ask them for an out-the-door price, in writing. Tell them you are asking for bids from several dealers. Tell them you are ready to buy as soon as you get the best deal.

-Do not tell them your car broke down or in any way let on that you really need wheels.

-If you go to the dealership, do not take your wife. You may reference you wife, though, but only to say that she is dead-set against you getting a PCX and the deal had better be pretty darn good to convince her otherwise.

-Repeat this wife argument as often as needed. Dealers try to wear you out to soften your defenses. They will even tag-team you (know as a turn-over or TO in the business) where you will talk to several people (typically salesperson, sales manager, accessories manager, finance manager, and the like). They are pros. They do this every day. You must be strong.

-Paying in cash is not an incentive for the dealer. Having your own financing arranged is not an incentive for the dealer. Using the dealer's own financing (where the dealer gets an incentive back) is a positive for the dealer. If you use the dealer's financing, make sure there is not a prepayment penalty. Take the financing to sweeten the pot for the dealer, and use your cash to pay off the loan right away if you want.

Wow thanks a lot for the advice, I was thinking that I shouldn't take my wife and that she might make it worse. The only problem is that my wife has literally just changed jobs and doesn't even have her first paycheck yet so financing might be hard without that. I messed up and told the first salesperson that I needed it because my car broke down and he didn't stop mentioning that and my wife started working against me with him lol! I have emailed some places and most have told me they won't give me an otd quote via email.
I'll be sure to be weary of the tag teaming. I think I'm gonna go in and show them some posts on this forum where people have gotten brand new ones for as low as 3,600 and tell they that I wouldn't consider anything more than that.
I'll be sure to contact people for awhile though and see if I can get any quotes in writing.

A guy offered me 3400 otd for a brand new 2015 pcx. Are there any differences between the 2015 and a 2016 or 2017?

I just got an offer from a Honda dealer for a brand new 2016 for 3,870. So far, the best offer I got for a 2017 was 4400. I really prefer the white color for the 2017 over the silver or red from the 2016. I'm also still thinking about the 2015 for 3400.
Any real differences between the those years?

No effective changes in 15,16 or 17 except color.

Actually the 2017s (2016s outside the USA) do seem to have a few subtle differences, including changes in the headlight configuration.

Unfortunately, no keyless ignition in the US.

I know that the period between my 2013 to 2015 model added bigger fuel tank and LED lighting
plus some plug ins
don't think there was a 2014 model

So the 3400 was offered without an extended warranty. Should I get a warranty? It seems like such a simple design, I wouldn't need one, what say all of you?

Depends on how risk averse you are. It provides piece of mind, but for a price (obviously).

I got an extended warranty on my Silver Wing but not on the PCX. If I were to do it again, I probably wouldn't have bought the extended warranty on the Silver Wing. The bikes are both very reliable and, in addition, I don't put many miles on my bikes--IIRC the warranty is unlimited mileage. It's a better deal for somebody who racks up the mileage. One benefit is that the warranty is transferable (IIRC) so if you think you might sell the bike that would be a selling point for the new owner.

Keep in mind that in order to have protection under the warranty you are strictly locked to Honda's maintenance schedule, and if you have a claim under the warranty you had better have all the maintenance records (you can do your own work, just keep a record and all the parts receipts).
