Re: members in Alabama
I don't ride as much as I use to but it looks like you are closer to me than many of the others. Still, Gadsden is quite a ways from Atlanta. I know because my wife and I headed over that way once as we did a 'Round Robin" on our bikes from Marietta to the Ft Payne area, to Tennessee, to the Carolinas, and back home in one day. That was a long long ride, and it wore us out. The PCX is not meant for that long of a ride, though we did have a lot of fun doing it. Now my wife can't ride due to her shoulder still healing from the surgery (motorcycle accident back in September), so I very seldom take the bikes out now. That doesn't mean that I don't ride at all. It just isn't the same without her.

Re: members in Alabama
Hope your wife is healing well. That was a very long ride to do in one day. I just bought this Forza a couple weeks ago, and I am really enjoying it. I have been fixing up bikes as a hobby for the last ten years or so, but never really having time too ride. Now I'm retired and I want to camp and ride my scooter. I think I added myself to the owners map today. I'm not much of computer person.

Re: members in Alabama
Obviously your Forza would outrun my little PCX but maybe we could meet up sometime and just do a comfortable back country road ride..no racing or seeing how fast we can go through the curves...just riding for the scenery. I am sure we could find some country roads. :-)

That sounds good to me. You don't have to worry about keeping up with me. I like to ride slow so I can see the sites around me. I have a couple of things going on next week, but I should be free after that. I just figured out how to resize a picture so I'll post a picture of my Forza.

Mel what's it going to take to get you over the accident brother? There is only so much lighting you can put before it becomes a Christmas tree. Its time to take her outside, summer is almost gone.

Re: members in Alabama
I know. The problem is twofold. First of all my wife feels left out because she can not ride right now. We aren't even sure she will ever be able to ride again because she has limited use of her arm and because the vibration of the road may cause her more pain than she already has. She broke her shoulder, not her arm.
The second problem is that my wife feels left out now. I understand. I would feel that way too if I couldn't ride but she could.
We use to ride just for the fun of it. No racing, no fast curves, no stupid tricks. We just rode for the scenery and the fun of riding. When I was younger I raced and did all sorts of things that should have killed me. Now I just ride because I enjoy it....though I really hate riding close to my house because these drivers have their head up their ass. How do you NOT have an accident when you think a block between lights means that you can floor it, or when you see a green light you think that means it is a good time to start texting?! Heck, there are even those in the big Suburban SUVS who think lights are for everyone Else!
The percentage of lawyer's wives in this immediate area is very high, and they have a lot of insurance, so they don't care much about anyone else. They will even block in an ambulance if it will get them a few feet further along. Now my wife worries every time I go out on the bike. That is another reason I am adding more lights to my bike. Once I am away from our area riding is much better.
We have talked about moving but it is cost prohibitive. So, when I ride I have to choose the timing so that I won't become a statistic just getting out of my subdivision.

Re: members in Alabama
That would be good. The 30th is our 25th anniversary so that day would be out anyway. The day after that I have a dental appointment. Well, we'll figure it out.
We can look at Google maps to see the best way to get here and the best place to ride to. There is a nice riding area on the western area beyond Rome, Ga. Maybe we can consider that.of course. There is also Georgia version of the Tail of the Dragon, but I am not in the mood for it. Everyone goes there or to Helen.
We can figure it out later.

Re: members in Alabama
This is the first time I've seen reference to that member map. I've added myself and will say here that we have a couple of guest beds and are known for cooking up a storm (when not exhausted from teaching). Also, there are currently 3 microbreweries within 2.5 miles of the house, and soon to be another at just about 1 mile.
I will die of liver failure.
