Yes, and the last time I tried this, it left Natasha still dirty, with smeared streaks. It also got me a visit from the neighbor kids' parents.
I found something to put here.

Re: Honda recommened Scooter cleaning inc kids!
I use the same car washing detergent that I use on my cars. They are supposedly safe on all vehicle paint. I rinse the bike first, to get the loose stuff off, like leaves, dirt, cats, children. Then I use a big car wash sponge, and a mitt for the wheels. Then I dry it off with a few towels (I have a lot of 'dog' towels that we wash and dry our dogs with. These go in the wash after use.) Then I spray on Novus #1 plastic cleaner (NOVUS PC-10 Plastic Clean & Shine - 8 oz). It adds a coating to the plastic, and works great for not only cleaning the windshield but also putting a coating on the window that makes it slick so that rain will roll off. It makes cleaning off the bugs much easier too. I haven't figured out what is best for the wheels and rims yet though. I don't want to affect the tire's ability to grip when cornering or leaning into a curve. Any suggestions??

I'm still trying to find a way to clean Natasha without giving her a full-on bath. I just don't want to spray water on her intentionally. I'd rather have some inexpensive spray on-wipe off cleaner that won't damage the finish. 409 is out, Windex is out, but there must be something like those. Plain water in a spray bottle doesn't do anything but smudge. I wonder if those baby wet wipes would work?

Duragloss rinseless, 2 oz in a spray bottle, the rest water is exactly what you asking for. Spray on wipe off, leaves a layer of protectant and great gloss. Been using it for years. Avail on auto geek or Amazon.Ishkabibble wrote:I'm still trying to find a way to clean Natasha without giving her a full-on bath. I just don't want to spray water on her intentionally. $11 is not it.Jge64 wrote:Duragloss rinseless, 2 oz in a spray bottle, the rest water is exactly what you asking for. Spray on wipe off, leaves a layer of protectant and great gloss. I'm looking for $3 or so, like a bottle of a 409-like basic cleaner, as opposed to some overpriced, "charge-more-because-it-says-automotive" on it.
I just want to get the dirt and streaks off the thing. I don't' want to spend a fortune doing it. $11 is four tanks of gas.
Thanks, but that isn't what I've been asking for.

Re: Honda recommened Scooter cleaning inc kids!
You're missing the point .....that one bottle will make you at least 8 to 10 spray bottles worth of "the $3 stuff". Try to read closer.

Re: Honda recommened Scooter cleaning inc kids!
I second the Duragloss.
I use detergent and water to wash the bike then spray on Duragloss Aquawax and dry with a micro fibre cloth. I also wax my car with Duragloss. Probably done the car and bike 20 times and I'm still on the first bottle. The Duragloss would probably last over 50 plus washes of both vehicles. Not very expensive, less than 20c per wash but does a great job.

Re: Honda recommened Scooter cleaning inc kids!
Your not supposed to use normal detergent because it has 'salt' that can damage alloy metals and stuff - hmm, must be far, far less than road salt and grime that you are trying to wash off! Also, many people just use a normal detergent mix and wash it off with cold water = seems to work just fine.
I was thinking of buying this: https://groceries.asda.com/product/car- ... 0001476508
just because it's supposed to add some wax protection afterwards, but not sure it's needed or will do harm. Otherwise I will just use water and a bit of mild soapy water and wash it down afterwards - I think the bike will survive just fine (it's lasted over 2 years without any special cleaners)

If the Bike Is dirty, degrease it first from road grime, a simple mix of 25 pct rubbing alcohol, the rest water will clear the Grime off and not hurt any surface. Then rinseless to wash and wax at the same time. 20 min and you're done for a few Months.WhiteNoise wrote:I'm going to look into what Glen linked.

If you want a better super seal, do the alcohol then wipe on blackfire crystal seal for outstanding gloss.

Re: Honda recommened Scooter cleaning inc kids!
I have had fine luck with Meguir's Quick Detail stuff (https://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-A3332-Q ... s+quick%27 , but available at any US auto place). The bottle will outlast the PCX unless you are a clean fanatic. Clearly if there is real dirt and grit on the machine, a car-wash sponge bath is in order followed by a gentle hose down, but for a quick wipe down this stuff works great.
On my scoot, getting there is WAY more than half the fun!
