Another one bites the dust...
Getting the Forza ready for its MoT test which is scheduled for tomorrow and once again the left brake switch has broken.
My Forza has now eaten at least three of them which is simply not good enough for a safety item which should last the life of the vehicle.
Genuine Honda one around fifty quid, german made aftermarket one eighteen quid.
Grrr!!!!

Sorry these little plastic switches cost so much over there.
Would buy a couple and airmail them to you....at $18 a pop here. ..but would delay your MOT.
Are they being installed properly?
Are they breaking or have they just stopped working?
Dieing.due to being parked outside in cold wet Scottish climate?
I agree that this should not be happening - regardless.
Pop one apart and lube the innards before installing?
With as.much as this Forza has given a Scotsman to grumble about I am a bit surprised you are looking to buy another Honda !!
In any event...good luck with your MOT
and regards from Ohio.

Cheers Fish, have had the switch apart and cleaned it out, no luck. Looks like it's worn out.
Seriously considering a new 2017 Xciting 400 but none in Scotland to look at and test.

Don't mate. I'm following a Greek forum and numerous issues are reported regarding the Xciting 400cc (they might have fixed them by 2017). I'm kind of obsessed with scooters, i read everything about them (i'm going for this one next Easter). So far, in my opinion, only the Yamaha XMAX 400 has the fewer serious issues, BUT, it is the most expensive 400cc scooter (€7000).

This is it mate. Number one.
Re: Another one bites the dust...
Yep, that's the front one and they're OK.
The back one is a combination brakelight and starter motor activation switch.
This is the little bugger: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141878302016
Honda part number is 35340-KFG-003 and it also fits the SH300 so there's plenty of them available.
Unsurprisingly the Forza failed, brake light switch and the condition of the front tyre, I checked it myself and couldn't see anything wrong with it, but hey-ho I'm not the man signing the paperwork...
New tyre on order.
Interested to know what the problems are on those Greek Xciting 400s, there's almost nothing available to read about them from owners in English which I can find.
I had thought Kymcos were pretty reliable.
Ah well, some folk think that about Hondas....

Re: Another one bites the dust...
thanks.. i am now informed...what are the symptoms when it fails?
Re: Another one bites the dust...
The brake lights don't come on when you pull the rear brake lever.
But if you use front and rear together (as recommended by the user manual) the lights come on due to the switch on the front lever...
This will be the third time this part has been replaced, twice before was under warranty, this one I'm paying so there's no way I'm paying more than double the cost for one in a bag with a Honda label on it.

Re: Another one bites the dust...
show the part... there must be optional switches out there so you don't have to replace with defective Honda part.
