Got an unexpected ride in this morning from Kaanapali to Kahakuloa. Thought I'd share these pics. Two are from Honoloa Bay looking towards Kapalua. And no trip to Kahakuloa is complete without a stop at Julia's. Those who have been there know what I'm saying.

Yep took a rental scoot up and around the North cliffs of Maui... and road a bit of it in a downpour which was extra special effect Got off and helped some folks navigate a traffic jam that literally had people within inches of their tires going over the side. It's big fun on a bike but I wouldn't drive a car up there after seeing how narrow some areas are. It is really beautiful though.

Pics too big, could that be it? ...open with 'paint' and resize by pixel about 720 by 540 is plenty big enough on the forum.

Some mild drizzle but all in all, it was a beautiful day. Homie, you talked about taking the same ride and seeing how close the cars come to the edge. On two different occasions I have watched tires slip off the edge. Very close to a disaster and of course, from time to time, someone does go completely over. However, the ride all the way from Lahaina side, north around the northwest tip and back via central Maui is visually stunning and I try to do that route once a month on the PCX.

When I lived in Hawaii we occasionally flew to Maui, rented a car, and drove around the island. This included going up to Seven Sister's Falls, which is a real adventure. What we worried the most about was the trucks that came down the mountain. They took up most of the road, and if you had to come back down in the dark you had to crawl because of the crazy curves.
Seeing it all from our helo was much better. We would fly up to where Lindberg is buried and land....big advantage of being in Coast Guard Aviation...:-)
