Jacket for Scooter Riding
Does anyone use a Darien jacket (http://www.aerostich.com/jackets-pants/ ... acket.html) for scooter riding that they might be able to comment on ?

Re: Jacket for Scooter Riding
For use with a motorbike you would need the zipper to come up from the bottom of the jacket as well as any liners underneath. I have a couple long cut jackets and a dual action 'top down bottom up' zipper feature seems critical for a comfortable seating position. Does this one have the feature?
Re: Jacket for Scooter Riding
homie, I can't answer your question on the zipper. Perhaps we'll have to wait and see if someone who does own this jacket can answer your zipper question.
Re: Jacket for Scooter Riding
I did contact Aerostich and they confirmed the jacket does indeed open from the bottom for a open bottom half and closed upper half.

The price puts me off a bit, but I believe it to be excellent protection. I guess if you think of it as a twenty year investment, the price is fine. I have Aerostitch khaki pants, and they are made very well.
On my scoot, getting there is WAY more than half the fun!

Re: Jacket for Scooter Riding
Silly price for scooter riding and leathers are still better for fast riding than most textiles (get yourself some properly lined kevlar jeans and gloves if you want some extra 'slide' protection - hood or other makes sell fully lined Kevlar jeans (not partial like cheaper crap) for not much more than £100 and tests prove the Kevlar stays intact in destructive slide tests!).
Here in the UK (I know your in the US) but same logic applies: good textile jackets with well fitting armour can be had for £100 or less here - proper makes such as RST through good makes such as Armr Moto (cheaper but still ok) - not some crap from China off Ebay or Amazon (far too many £50 items on Ebay/Amazon all from China that are poorly made and offer poor protection). Spend a bit more and get a good make from a dealer.
RST Blade textile with better build and protection than many - £100 https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorc ... rod/190756
Armr Ikedo/Shiro or Kiso (£100 with free comfy and warm trousers) - https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorc ... rod/117246 or https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorc ... rod/117294
etc
Amazon (UK) is getting very bad for selling crap you will find on Ebay - often reviews will tell how poor the item is or that the ones supplied are not the ones shown in the picture
