Tough Right Indicator Switch

Quicky Guys.

Is it normal for the the indicator switch to be hard to push when signalling right? the left seems alot easier to do.

PCX is brand new, thinking of taking it back but thought I'd ask you Guys first.

It got silly to the point I couldn't indicate fighting with it

I would try that first myself

"If" I used an oil at all, I'd choose a light oil such as "3 in 1 multi-purpose oil"

But then, I like and use (for years), Radio Shack's "Contact Cleaner and Lubricant"

If the machine is brand new, take it back to the man. It should be easy, and certainly the same as indicating left.


WD-40 is not much of a lubricant. It goes away fairly quickly. Since it is an electrical switch, contact cleaner and lubricant makes sense, but really, nothing should be necessary.

I agree, WD-40 is pretty temporary. Try some silicone spray, it's weatherproof. However using the switch may get better, new bikes have manufacturing tolerances that need to be worn down a bit just like you do with rings in the engine.

I've also got this problem - no issue with the left operation but sometimes it's hard to flick the indicator to the right - sometimes it just won't go across unless I press cancel a few times and then try it - it seems more like it's catching on some small bit of plastic rather than stiff. Damn, always wondered how long that little indicator switch combo would last - it always felt a bit cheap and tacky

I second the silicone spray over WD40. I know what you are talking about when signaling right. For me, I was pushing the switch in slightly which made it tough to signal right. When it happens, try again to signal and be conscious of "not" pushing the switch but rather, move the switch to the right with no forward push.

I never press it in to signal just to cancel, and as I go to work early morning, 2am or so, it gets most use during one way of commuting so I thought I was going easy on it - I wonder how easy it is to get to the plug end to remove the assembly - remove the front windscreen perhaps?

Today it seemed better after applying a little oil, will keep an eye on it over the weekend,

I know what people mean when you say try not to push it in when using the indicators, nigh on impossible to use then!
